If you have followed this blog or my social media for any length of time then you know how much I love going to the theater and watching shows and especially musicals! It all started way back in 2010 when I was in NYC visiting a friend and we saw West Side Story on Broadway. I have been hooked ever since.
I live in central Arkansas and we get some pretty good shows but my favorite place to see them is in Memphis. It’s about a 2 hour drive from me and the whole experience is amazing! The Orpheum theater is just gorgeous and they get the best shows!!
I think the first show I saw there was Mary Poppins for my 30th birthday and since then I have seen Matilda, The Lion King, Annie, Sound of Music, The Little Mermaid, The King and I, Finding Neverland and I’m sure a few more that I’m forgetting! HA!
So back to this trip…last night I drove to Memphis and saw Waitress! It was sooo good!! I didn’t really know what the show was going to be about (I try not to look up too much about the show beforehand, I like to be surprised!) but I have to say that I absolutely loved it!! I have been in a funk lately and that show seriously made me laugh!!
There were so many good parts and the comedic timing was perfect! It was seriously a great show! Also, Sarah Bareilles wrote the songs for it so you know they were amazing!! And while I think kids should definitely go to shows and be exposed to live theater I think this is one they should sit out…unless you want to explain certain sex innuendos and positions to them and where babies come from. HA!
Anyway, Waitress will be at the Orpheum in Memphis every night from now until January 20. I highly suggest going if musical theater is your thing!!

That theatre is really beautiful. I’m glad you treated yourself and had such a good time. We all need that extra little boost every now and then.
I am happy to learn you had so much fun. This is something I haven’t done for a long time – going to the theater! I wish this show would be in more areas/places. I would definitely watch it if they’d perform in an area near me.
The theater is so grand! I also love the smiling faces of the staff. I have not seen the movie of read the book, but Waitress does look like an interesting story!

I have always wanted to go to a theater and watch a musical show. Waitress sounds like a good one to watch. Someday, I hope.
