Happy October!! It’s crazy how fast this year has just flown by!! I think I say that at the beginning of every month but this month just seems unreal. How did we already make it to October already?? Pretty soon it will be Christmas!! AHHH!!
Back on topic…today’s blog posts is one of my very favorite monthly posts to share with you, my “reads” post!! If you are new around here then you should know that this post is a post I do at the beginning of every new month and I tell you all about what I read the previous month. It stems from my New Year’s Resolutions post when I decided that I would read 50 books this year only little did I realize just how many books I read a month. HA! With this month’s six books added to the list I am currently at 68 books for the year! Wow!!
Now before all you think I do is read and blog all the day errr day you should know that I do work a full time job (48-60 hours a week) and most of my “reading” is actually listening to audiobooks because who has time to actually sit down a read a book? Not this girl!
I like to check out books via my library’s e-library and download them to the Libby app and read them straight from there or listen to the audiobooks from there. It’s a pretty genius idea because with the amount of books I read I could honestly spend a small fortune on books each month. HA!
Enough talk about reading let’s see what books I read this month!!
ONE. The Circle by David Eggers. This book is one that I would consider a must-read for the incredibly mobile and social world that we live in today. It’s all about a girl who goes to work for the biggest tech firm in the world and her experience getting rapped up in “The Circle”. It really shows what the world today could turn into and it’s kind of scary. This book was also made in a movie starring Emma Watson and Tom Hanks (I think?!) and I really want to see it!! If you are into techy books then you should check this one out!
TWO. The Forever Summer by Jamie Brenner. This is a great beach/weekend/girl’s trip read. It’s about a two women who meet because of fate and a dan test and goes to show how deeply families are connected and how people come together who have just met each other. It really is a feel good book with lots of twists and turns and I thoroughly enjoyed it!! This was also my first Jamie Brenner novel and now I must go see what else she has written!!
THREE. The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand. Another “beach” read, this book is by Elin Hilderbrand, the queen of all beach reads. This book is based in Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard and reminded me just how much I need to travel to both places!! I love all of Elin Hilderbrand’s books that I have read so far and this one is no exception. This book is about the relationship struggles between sisters, mother/daughter and women/men. It’s fantastic and a really great read if you need some “me” time.
FOUR. The House on Tradd Street by Karen White. This book is actually the first in a series and I didn’t even realize it when I started it, HA! Luckily for me, I love series and this one combined a couple of my favorite things…old houses, Charleston and a mystery. This book is about a woman who is a realtor in Charleston and inherits a fantastic original Charlestonian home to renovate and live in. It also involves a murder mystery, a hot guy and family problems. What’s not to love about it??
FIVE. The Girl on Legare Street by Karen White. The second book in the Tradd Street series, this book combines another old house that needs renovating, the same hot guy and even more family problems. And of course, lest we forget, another murder mystery! I’m telling you, if you are into chick lit with a little murder thrown in then you have to check out this series.
SIX. The Boy is Back by Meg Cabot. Oh Meg Cabot. I have loved your books for a loooong time so I was all kinds of pumped up when I saw this book on my libraries e-library shelf. I snatched it up and read it in two days. And this was an actual e-book, not audiobook, HA! This book is about a guy who finally comes home to the town he grew up in, his family and of course his ex-girlfriend. He comes home to help out with his elderly parents and maybe eve help himself out too? Such a fun, quick read and this book reminded me just how much I love Meg Cabot’s books!!
So there you have it, my September Reads!! You can check out my previous month’s reads here…January, February, March, April, May, June, July and August. Hope you found some inspiration and maybe something new to read!!

I MUST read The Circle. I saw the movie, and I loved it. I’m sure the book is even better. The books are ALWAYS better.

Agreed, the books are always solo much better than the movies!!

I am so jealous of all that you read! I wished that I had time to read something other than for work, or for homeschooling my daughter. These all sound like great choices!

Audio books are the way to go! I prefer Kindle myself, but if I could get audio versions of the genre of books I love to read (bios/autobiographies on musicians, bands, etc) I’d love to hear them! 68 books so far? You’re crushing it!
Ricci says
Check your local library! I bet they have an amazing selection of digital audiobooks in the genres you like!!

Oh, I hear you! I know we say it every month but this past month literally was gone in a flash! I agree I do not have the time anymore to really sit and read an in hand book. I sure wish I did!
I want to see that movie with Tom Hanks based on The Circle!

These books all sound so good! I always try and intend to read more – it doesn’t always happen BUT I need to add these to my list. They all look great! Thanks for the recommendations!

Those sound like amazing books, I think it’s awesome that you have an app that helps you find books that you’ll enjoy reading. I really should check that out!

The Circle is a great book – I enjoyed it much more than the movie. I haven’t been reading too much else lately, so I’ll have to check out some of these. Nothing like curling up with a good book when cold weather arrives!

All of those look interesting, I need to have myself a book to read and relax for quite a while. Maybe I should try reading The Boy is Back by Meg Cabot and The Forever Summer by Jamie Brenner, they sound intriguing.

I wish I could say the same about my goals and achievements in the sense of reading for this past month. I do read the news a lot, that’s my only excuse :) I like the book about Charleston that you have read. I have been to Charleston, so it will be interesting to read this, and get back in my mind to that time when we visited.

I love to read murder mystery books – a thing that the hubs and I have in common. We’ll have to check that series.
