It’s officially May 1!! How is it May already??? I can’t even fathom how we are already 5 months into 2017. Blows my mind. HA! But anyway, since it’s May I thought I would share with you what I read in April!
I have to admit that this has been one of my favorite monthly posts to write lately. I love love love to read and I love sharing with you what I’ve been reading every month. I know I say this every month but in case you forgot I made a resolution to read 50 books in 2017 and I am now realizing that that was a mistake. I totally should have made that goal a little higher but I honestly didn’t know how many books I was reading a month when I made it…oops!! And before you think I’m tho huge book nerd who just reads all day and night I actually listened to most of these via audiobook. My local library has an amazing library app that I can download the audiobooks right to my phone and so I listen to them while I get ready in the mornings, drive to work, on road trips and when I’m cleaning my house.
You can check out my January, February and March reads and don’t forget to share with me what you’ve been reading in the comments!! I love getting book recommendations from you guys!!
So now let’s get to it…my April Reads!!
ONE. Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham. I am just going to say this up front but this may be one of my favorite books of 2017!! I actually listened to the audiobook version of this book so I got to listen to Lauren Graham read it herself and that was amazing!! I wish I read the book because she left referencing old photos which I wish I could have seen so I may just have to buy it!! If you were a big fan of Gilmore Girls then you will want to read this book!! I learned a lot about LG and even ordered the fiction book she wrote before this to read next!! Also who knew home girl was 50??? She looks AMAZING!!!
TWO. The Shadow Queen by CJ Redwine. I think we all know how much I love YA books and this book was soooo good!! It is the start of a new series and this book is loosely based on Snow White. It came out this past December and the next book came out this past February! I can’t wait to read it!!
THREE. The Whistler by John Grisham. I love a good murder mystery and James Patterson is the best in the business at it. The Whistler was about scandal going on inside the legal system and really made me think! Love me som JP!!
FOUR. See Me by Nicholas Sparks. I have had a thing for Nicholas Sparks books ever since I watched, and then read, A Walk to Remember back in my Freshman year of college. I own most of them and I seriously loved this book of his. I am going to North Carolina this June to watch my niece graduate from high school and for a family vacation and I am getting so excited to see more Nicholas Sparks land!! HA!!
FIVE. Two by Two by Nicholas Sparks. I read this book right after See Me and I honestly think it was even better, if that’s even possible!! Nicholas Sparks is amazing at what he does and always leaves me wanting more!!
SIX. Little Black Dress by James Patterson. Yes, another James Patterson book. However this book was a short story and wasn’t his typical murder mystery. It was very different but yet also very good. I would definitely read more of his short stories in the future.
SEVEN. The Perfect Girl by Gilly Macmillan. This book was compared to Girl on the Train, as lots of books are these days, but this book was definitely not Gone Girl. It was good but more of a teenage murder mystery that involved some very shady people. It was pretty good though!
EIGHT. The Fall of Butterflies by Andrea Portes. My last book of the month, this YA book was really good. It was about a girl who goes to boarding school and meets people that are even more messed up than she is. I have always liked reading books about boarding school, maybe because I secretly always wanted to go to one? And while this isn’t the typical boarding school book it does have a really good ending and is worth reading.
And those, ladies and gents are my April Reads!! So if you are keeping track, that’s 28/50 towards my New Year’s Resolution!! I am killing it this year!!! At least in this area of my life…but you can’t win them all.
What are your favorite kinds of books to read??
What have you been reading lately??

I don’t read, but my husband loves to read on the train to and from work. I think he likes John Grisham, so I will tell him about this.

I’m an avid reader and I ready everything that John Grisham, James Patterson, and Nicholas Sparks writes. Why have I not seen The Whistler? I’ll have to download it to my Kindle and get to reading. Thanks for the suggestions!

Hard to believe it is the first of May. I am behind on my reading, just didn’t have as much time this month. Will be checking out your list closer and deciding what should be next on my list.

I love all of the books even she here. I was looking for some fresh ideas to read. I will be on a plane for quite a while at the end of this month and I needed a good book to read.

Books make me happy! I will have to read Lauren’s book! My daughter and I ARE the Gilmore Girls. I have been wanting to read The Shadow Queen…so many books so little time! I’d read nonstop if I didn’t have to make money lol.

I have three of these in my every growing pile of books next to my bed. I’m really looking forward to reading a few books over the summer. It is when I find the most “me” time.

These books sounds like books I would like to read. I will have to get some of them and get reading.

Amazing reading list you have! If I had those books, I would start with Patterson, then Grisham, the the two Sparks books. Oh my goodness, that will be the day!
David Elliott says
Looks like a great group of books here. I will have to be checking out a few at the library. I am very intersted in the short story by Patterson. It’s always interesting to me when a novelist writes a short story.

I love to read! I’m more on non-fiction books about productivity, health, and spirituality. I love your list of books.

The only one of these books I’ve read is “See Me”, by Nicholas Sparks. I love the 50 books goal. I’m such a reader but once I start I can’t put it down so it becomes rare for me!

My daughter loves to read! She would love these finds.

My goal each year is 52 books, or one a week, so similar to yours. I love audiobooks! I listen to them with my audible account while I do chores or feed the baby.
