I love doing these monthly book recaps! It’s fun because I know I love seeing what others are reading and getting book recommendations from other bloggers I love and I hope someone can find a new read on here like I do on other’s blogs! Anyway, in case you forgot I am recapping my monthly reads as part of my New Year’s Resolutions to read 50 books. Although I think I underestimated how much I actually read because including this month’s books I am up to 34. HA!!
Actually I should probably tell you that I listened to all of these via audiobook. I “rent” them from my local library’s app and download them to my iPhone. Then I listen to them on my Bose Bluetooth speaker at home or in my car when I’m driving to and from work. I started reading two actual books but didn’t finish either. Oops!! I really need to get back to reading actual books.
Apparently I have been on a bit of a murder mystery kick this month because every book I read was in that genre. Not that I’m mad about that…HA! So here we go!
ONE. As Time Goes By by Mary Higgins Clark. For some reason growing up I was obsessed with books about adoption and this is like a grown up adoption/murder mystery book and it was soooo good!! I love me some MHC.
TWO. In the Woods by Tana French. Ok, this was a looooong book. I didn’t realize when I downloaded it that it was 21 hours!!! Fortunately I got really into it and didn’t mind that it was so long. There are more books in this series but I don’t know that I will be listening to those, I don’t know if I can do another 21 hours! HA!!!
THREE. I Heard that Song Before by Mary Higgins Clark. I think I have read this book before because it seems familiar but I can’t remember all of it?? Either way it was really good and very mysterious, very Mary Higgins Clark. Gosh that lady can slay a book!!
FOUR. To Have and To Kill by Mary Jane Clark. This is the first book in the Piper Donovan series (the next two are the last two) and I really loved it. It was based in NYC (which I LOVE) and it is about a struggling actress and cake decorating. Cake and murder? You just can’t beat that.
FIVE. The Look of Love by Mary Jane Clark. This book was the second in the Piper Donovan series and was based in LA at a spa. Definitely my kind of atmosphere! And again with the murder and cake. Loved it!
SIX. Footprints in the Sand by Mary Jane Clark. This is the final book in the Piper Donovan series (I think??) and was based in Florida. Again, the beach/cake/murder mystery. Just can’t beat it!! Plus all three of these books are pretty quick reads and I love that!!
So there you have it, my May Reads!! You can check out my previous month’s reads here…January, February, March and April. Hope you found something to read!!
Do you like reading??
What is the last book you read??

I read a lot–usually on my kindle. You can find all the latest books I read by clicking here http://www.mikishope.com/2013/12/the-ongoing-whats-up-at-mikis-hope.html You will find them under giveaways and if you scroll down a bit also under book reviews–too many to list here! There is also a tab to the left where all books ultimately reside. Although my absolute favorite genre is Historical Romance–I also love Cozy Mysteries, and Thrillers–everything except self help books.

I LOVE to read. Although these days, I have to read with my ears because I’m so busy. I don’t mind though. Audio books are like adult story time. LOL

Ohh I really need to try and get into audio books more, I used to be a night reader but I can’t see without contacts in very well which has put pay to that :( so audio books might be the way around it.

Ha! The “Clarks” have it right? To have and to Kill sounds creepy in a good way. I do enjoy murder mystery television. I should pick up a book!

I have been looking for some book suggestions to indulge in over the summer. As a longtime Mary Higgins Clark fan, that title sounds especially awesome.

I love mystery books and Mary Higgins Clark. I have made it a mission to start reading a book a week this month. I love to read and often it falls to the side. I know what books I am getting from the library.

Wow, you are quite a prolific reader! These books do sound very interesting, no wonder you have been able to read so many of these! I have been known to be reading a book instead of sleeping, through meals and on public transportation if I really like a book.

I don’t think any of these are my piece of cake when it comes to reading material. Give me a good sci-fi novel anytime.

I could definitely enjoy more books if I tried the audio version. Mary Jane Clark sounds like my style of writer, I love a good suspense story. I will have to check her out soon.

In The Woods was good. I have read it before. It did take me a while, but in my experience it’s the longer books like this that are the best.

When I was in high school, I read a LOT! I had so much free time because I wasn’t allowed to go out with friends (long story lol). Mary Higgins Clark has always been one of my favorite authors.
