This past weekend I co-hosted a baby shower for one of my very best friends ever. She was my college roommate, sorority sister and my partner in crime for many years. We both wound up in central Arkansas for our post-college big-girl jobs and I love that I still get to see her! I was in her wedding a couple of years ago and now she’s having a baby!!! Life is good y’all.
For her baby shower we did an owl theme and I was in charge of food (other than the cake)! What fat kid wouldn’t love to be in charge of food? HA! I decided to do something sweet, something savory and something to drink. It was an afternoon shower so no need for a meal or anything, just snack food. Looking back I kind of wish I had done a dip of some sort? Everyone loves dip!
Anyway, today I am going to share with you the three things I made for the shower and their recipes!! Here we go…
Fuit Dip
This is my step-mom’s recipe and she uses it for all parties, showers and holidays. It is insanely good and it’s super easy to make. It also freezes well if you wind up making a little too much and don’t want to waste it. Or eat it all yourself, I won’t judge. HA!
Servings |
|
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1 lemon juiced
- pineapple juice to taste
Ingredients
|
|
- Whip cream cheese until fluffy.
- Add in whipping cream until smooth.
- Add in both sugars until smooth.
- Add lemon juice until smooth.
- Add as much pineapple juice until you get the flavor you want. I use the juice from a can of crushed pineapple and then even add in some of the crushed pineapple sometimes!
- Enjoy!
Party Punch
This is my Grandma’s Party Punchrecipe and she makes every Christmas (she calls it Christmas Punch) but I love it all year round! Again, this recipe makes a TON and also freezes well. Is it just me or do you always think of Steel Magnolias when someone says something “freezes well”?? LOL!! LOVE that movie!!
Servings |
|
- 1 cup white sugar
- 46 oz pineapple juice
- 2 cups orange juice
- 2 packages strawberry kool-aid
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1 gallon water
- 2 liter ginger ale
Ingredients
|
|
- Mix all ingredients together except ginger ale and put in freezer.
- Stir every hour until party to get the punch slushy.
- When ready to serve, mix the ginger ale in with the slushy punch and serve.
- Enjoy!
Ham and Ranch Pinwheels
Now I have to admit that of these three recipes this ons my just be my favorite. They are my own original recipe (as original as any recipe is these days I guess?), are super easy to make and are also always a HUGE hit at parties. I thought I made enough of these are the were the first thing that ran out. Note to self – double the recipe next time!!
Servings |
|
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 1 package Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix
- 1 package soft taco sized tortillas
- 1 package ham
Ingredients
|
|
- Mix cream cheese and ranch to taste, I use the whole package to 8 oz cream cheese, some people use less.
- Spread a tablespoon (or more) onto a tortilla.
- Place two slices of ham on tortilla covering it from end to end.
- Roll up tortilla tightly and wrap with saran wrap.
- When all tortillas are rolled and covered, place in fridge for a few hours.
- When you are ready to serve just unwrap the tortillas and cut them into pinwheels!
- Enjoy.
I hope you have enjoyed these three recipes as much as I have!! I hope my Grandma and Charlotte don’t mind me sharing them…LOL!!! If you have any questions please let me know!!

These all sound so yummy, and perfect for the shower you helped with! I’m going to make that dip for sure :)
Jessica says
Yum, all of that looks so good. I’m obsessed with a fruit dip (even though fruit alone is good too) I can eat fruit dip with a spoon and nothing else ;) hehe
Elaine says
I see fruit dip and pinwheels in my future! :)

I used the whole packet of dressing mix with the cream cheese as instructed and it was to salty to use. How much should I have used?
Ricci says
Oh no! I’m sorry you didn’t like it! I like to use the whole pouch to the cream cheese but some people use less, just depends on how “ranchy” you like it!

I was so excited to find the recipes that you have posted, especially the Dot Cookies! These are my daughters favorite cookies in the whole world so I’m excited to try my hand at making them for her. I also am curious about the fruit bar recipe that you might could share with me as this is also one of my families favorite. Would that be possible?
