If you know me at all then you know I am obsessed with musical theater! I saw my first show, West Side Story, on Broadway ten years ago and have been going to shows ever since. I go to a lot of traveling shows when they come to own but most of the time I drive over to Memphis and see them at The Orpheum Theater. It’s only a couple of hours away from me and worth every minute of the drive.
I have seen several shows at The Orpheum and some of my faves are Fiddler on the Roof, Waitress, The Little Mermaid, and Matilda. It really is a fabulous theater and if you get the chance to go you should totally do it!!
I am such the musical theater nerd that I actually wrote a blog post about my Musical Bucket List a few years ago and have since seen several of the shows on there and got the opportunity to mark another one off this week. Which show you ask?? ANASTASIA!!!
When I was a kid I was obsessed with the Anastasia movie. I watched it on repeat and had all of the songs memorized and I still know most of the words today. I have heard that the show was amazing and I am so glad I got the chance to see it in Memphis! It was just as dreamy as I thought it would be, even if it was a bit different than the movie (most shows are).
Anastasia also has so many amazing songs and most you will know from the movie if you watched it. I think about half of the audience sang along to Once Upon a December…LOL!! I know I did, NO SHAME!!
A random fact about me is that I am a bit of a collector of things. That sounds weird but let me explain. I have collected every movie ticket, show ticket, concert ticket, etc for as long as I can remember. I also collect Starbucks cups when I travel and I have the show programs from every show I have ever been to. I love looking back at the programs and remembering each show. It’s just something I do, I promise I’m not really a hoarder or anything!
Anyway, Anastasia will be at The Orpheum until June 9 so if you get the opportunity and want to go then I say do it!!
And one more thing. I am so NOT a fashion blogger but I posted about this $14 dress from Walmart that I wore to the show and I got soooo many questions about it! Unfortunately I think it’s sold out online but you can still find it in store. I have it in both black and olive green!

How fun is that! I love seeing Stage performances. Are used to act a lot myself and it was a lot of fun. Something like this would just be awesome to see with the family.

I love the little black dress you wore to the theater! When my two daughters were small they were involved in a local theater company that did full-on, 3-hour productions with the scripts leased from Hollywood. It required a huge number of hours of parent participation. It was such a fun and memorable time in the lives of our entire family. The girls were in about 8 productions in all!
How bad is it that I have never seen this movie? You have definitely made me curious to watch it now.
Anastasia was one of my daughter’s favorite movies. She really wants to see the musical someday.
I have been finding some really great pieces at Walmart lately. They had tons of great coverups last week.
I bet that was amazing to be able to see. I would love to see that someday. It is definitely a really good movie.
We don’t go to see live shows very often, but I always like it when we do. Even the one occasion where I didn’t really like the plot or music, I loved seeing the way the scenery worked and the lighting! For a short time, I was a lighting tech for our college theater and it was always so interesting.
I love dressing up and going out like that. That theater is wonderful in Memphis. I haven’t been in a while. Must go back.

I love the theater. I love Les Mes, Kinky Boots (my all time favorite!) and I actually saw Wicked at the Orpheum in Memphis ten or so years ago. St Louis has a lot of great theater options, mainly The Fox but during the summer it is all about the Muny, our outdoor theater.
