I am making headway people!! I am finally on my September book reviews, only one more month and I will be all caught up!! Whew…it has taken a few weeks but I’m glad I’m finally getting these published.
As you probably know by now, one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to read 120 books. So far this year (including this month) I have read 109 books, I am almost at my goal…EEK!!!
Less talk and more action, here are the books!
ONE. The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory. This was my very first Jasmine Guillory book and I loved it! I loved her style and y’all know I love me some chick lit so I will definitely be reading more of these books! The Proposal is about a woman who gets proposed to in a very public way after dating her boyfriend for a very short time. She says no and is rescued by a stranger and his sister who escort her out of the game and get her to her friends. The book is about the relationship that forms between strangers who help each other out and shows that even great things can come from bad situations.
There is so much to relate to and throughout the novel, there is a sharp feminist edge. Loved this one, and you will too. – Roxane Gay, New York Times bestselling author
TWO. The Better Liar by Tanen Jones. This book will be released January 14, 2020 and I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Written from the perspective of three women…Robin, Leslie, and Mary…this story is about how fr each one will go to claim an inheritance which may or may not being to her. Each woman tell her side of the story, one a working mom, one a pretty sociopath and one a teenager from a troubled family. Each have their own issues that they have to work through and only one can come out on top. This book was a very quick read and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it. If you like psychological thrillers then you HAVE to read this book!!
Smart, sinister, and utterly engrossing – this debut delivers. -Joshilyn Jackson, New York Times bestselling author
THREE. The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter. Again, Karin Slaughter knocks it out of the park with this one! This book is about two sisters who survived an attack on their family that left their mother dead, their father completely devastated, and their relationship destroyed. Fast forward 28 years and tragedy brings the family together again and forces the family to relive the worst night of their lives all over again, and this time the truth finally comes out. Again, if psychological thrillers are your thing read this book!
FOUR. The Mister by EL James. Ole EL James finally came out with a new book, this one set in London and very similar to the 50 Shades series. If you like reading about sex and adventures then you will love this book!
FIVE. The House by Christina Lauren. If YA and haunted houses are your thing then you will LOVE The House. This is the story of two teens, Gavin and Delilah, who reconnect after a few years apart. Gavin lives in a large house on the edge of town that is rumored to be haunted and has Gavin trapped in it’s intricate web of lies and secrets. This book is definitely a little scary but mostly a good, quick read. I loved it!
Masterfully told and wholly original, THE HOUSE is a bold new take on the haunted house genre. Don’t read it at home alone. Or at night. Or at all, if you scare easy. You’ve been warned! – Ransom Riggs, New York Times bestselling author
SIX. One Day in December by Josie Silver. If you love chick lit, believe in love first sight, fate and destiny then you will love this book. It all starts on a snowy day in December when two people see each other on opposite sides of a bus window and spend the next year searching for each other. The amount of twists and turns this books makes reminds me of my own life, only with a much better ending. HA! If you like love stories then this is the book for you!
Get ready to be swept up in a whirlwind romance. It absolutely charmed me. – Reese Witherspoon
SEVEN – EIGHT. Morganville Vampire Series by Rachel Caine {Bitter Blood, Fall of Night}. More Morganville Vampires, I read two more books in this series and {spoiler alert} I finish it in October! If YA vampire books are your thing then you will like this series.
There you have it…all of the books I read in the month of September!! You can also check out all of the books I read in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, and August. And if we have the same taste in books you can check out my favorite chick lit authors here!
