Game Day Weekend in Lubbock

This post contains affiliate links.

Hello friends!! Can I just start this post by saying that vacation hangover is real, especially when you work night shift and have to go back to work the night after you get home and have been on a day time schedule for a week. UGH!! But I will take this vacation hangover any day if it means I get to go to Lubbock, Texas with my girl Rebekah and see the one and only Kliff Kingsbury coach the Texas Tech Red Raiders to a WIN!!! Gah y’all…it was a fantastic weekend!!

game day weekend in Lubbock

My weekend technically started last Thursday when I dropped Sophie off at “camp” and road tripped it to Dallas for the night. If you have bene following my Instagram then you know I have been doing the Profile by Sanford Weight Loss System and I am proud to say that I actually followed it while I was on the road and most of the say on Thursday. I was so proud of myself and then I ate one bowl of pasta and it all went downhill from there! HA! But more on that later…

I stayed in my first AirBNB Thursday night and I have to admit that I have always been super nervous to use the service, especially when traveling alone, but I stayed in a super cute garage apartment in a safe neighborhood that was only 20 minutes from DFW airport and cost way less than a hotel! I will definitely be using AirBNB in the future!!

Friday morning I got up super early and hopped on a flight from Dallas to Lubbock!!

I got there super early so I valet checked my bag at our hotel and then did a little exploring on my own before Rebekah got there. For those wondering, we stayed at the Overton Hotel in Lubbock which is the BEST hotel to stay at in Lubbock if you are going to any football games! It is within walking distance of Jones AT&T Stadium and you can see it (and a lot of campus) from your room!

After Rebekah got to town we treated ourselves to pedicures at Paint Nail Bar and I had a couple of super yummy Triple Berry Mimosas. SO GOOD!!!

After our nails were on fleek (do people still say that??) we grabbed dinner at the Italian Garden. We ate there the last time we were in Lubbock and if you love authentic Italian food in a great location then you need to check it out! Definitely worth the wait!

I passed out as soon as we got back to the hotel and proceeded to sleep for the next 12 hours. It was possibly the best sleep of my life. Those hotel beds are AMAZING!

Since it the game wasn’t until 3:15pm we took our time getting ready and getting to the game. We found lunch and then made our way to the stadium and I am not even lying to you when I tell you we saw Kliff Kingsbury live and in person and HE HIGH FIVED ME (and a bunch of little kids) when he was jogging into the stadium. Y’all I almost DIED. I swore I would never wash my right hand again and have since named it my Kliff Hand.  Y’all. He is too beautiful for words. I mean…

…DAYUM!!!

I’ll give you a minute to recover from seeing all that hotness.

Ok, so after I recovered from touching Kliff Kingsbury we took a selfie and made our way into the stadium to our seats.

We had seats on the second row right behind Kliff and for whatever reason this is the only pic I got of the whole game…HA!

The Masked Rider!!

Of course we selfied at the stadium during the game…

…Kliff won, we found dinner and then passed out again. That’s pretty much our whole day. Did I forget to mention that KLIFF KINGSBURY TOUCHED MY HAND??!! HA!!!

The next morning we slept in, made out way to the airport and then headed home. All in all it was a fantastic weekend, I am glad Texas Tech won and KLIFF HIGH FIVED ME. LIFE = MADE.

Who wants to go to a Texas Tech game with me??

It sounds like you had a blast! It’s always nice to get together with friends. I’m not a fan of watching sports, but I do like eating and drinking.

I feel for you and hope your first night back wasn’t to bad. We love staying in airbnb’s and have really only had one that didn’t stand up to the ratings. Love the hotness and of course football.

What a fabulous trip! Isn’t Airbnb the best? I love getting to experience what it’s like living like the locals.

If you can guarantee this Missouri girl will get to touch Kliff’s hand, I’ll fly from St. Louis and go to a game with you! :) I

Looks like a lot of fun! I haven’t been to a game like that. It sounds like it would be fun to check out. I’ve never been to Texas, but my grandmother was from Lubbock!

I guess holding your hand by Kliff would indeed make the trip a lot more memorable. Well, separation anxiety after a vacation is always there when going back to reality.
