Summer Travel Beauty Hacks

This post contains affiliate links.

If you haven’t figured it out already, I love to travel!! I wish I could afford to travel more but you know…I’m ballin’ on a budget these days. Adulting sucks. HA! One thing I get asked about a LOT is how I travel with my favorite beauty items during the summer months. I admit it’s a little tricky because you want to pack enough of your products so you don’t run out but you don’t want to pack too much in case they melt in the heat and then you waste them…it’s a balancing act! So today I thought I would share with you my summer travel beauty hacks, including a way to save your products in the hot summer heat!!

First up let’s talk hair products. Y’all know I love all things hair and my hair products are essential. Whenever I go to Ulta I am always sucked in by all the mini and travel sized products by the registers. I think they put those displays there on purpose because I can’t even begin to tell you how many impulse purchases I have made from those displays, HA! Recently I discovered the travel sized OGX products and snagged a few dry shampoos. I threw one in my gym bag and this one in my travel bag. I like the way they smell and they work great too! I also have travel sized hair spray and dry texturizing spray that I keep in my travel stash. I keep all of these on the beauty shelf in my closet and throw them all in a plastic baggie before packing them. I am always afraid of something exploding and don’t want to ruin a cute travel bag or my clothing so a plastic baggie works!

For hair tools I always pack my own full sized blow dryer, flat iron and curling wand. My friends know and expect this so they usually don’t pack theirs. I also always travel my own bottle of conditioner. I can pretty much use whatever shampoo but I have to have my conditioner so this one just stays packed. Same with my blowout spray. When I notice a bottle getting low I just throw it in with my travel stuff that way if I run out when I’m on vacation I can just toss it.

Now on to skincare and makeup…personally I think packing skincare and makeup is a little trickier because this is where you run into products melting. To solve this issue IT Cosmetics sent me this awesome insulated bag that will keep all my precuts cool and from melting all over the place, even when traveling in the summer heat. How genius is that?! It was even full of travel sized goodies and I used some of them on my recent trip to Dallas to watch the Rangers play and to see Maroon 5 and guess what? It worked like a charm!!

I kept my travel sized Bye Bye Makeup Cleansing Balm, Secret Sauce, Miracle Water, Bye Bye Under Eye, Celebration Foundation (full size), Brow Power, Bye Bye Pores Bronzer (full sized), Superhero Mascara, Bye Bye Pores Pressed Powder, blush (full sized), and Confidence in a Cleanser in it and nothing was ruined. I repeat, nothing was ruined!! Plus I love all of the mini/travel sized products!!

I kept my brushes in a separate bag because I don’t like them getting unnecessarily squished or bent out of shape. Sometimes I travel with my full sized brushed but I usually travel with this travel set from IT Cosmetics.

Some other ” beauty travel hacks” that I have are using products that are multipurpose such as skipping blush altogether and just using your bronzer. Or bring the blush as use it as eye shadow as well. Instead of double cleansing your face with two different face washes, you can use the same face wash twice…it gets the job done and you only have to pack one product.

If you are like me and have an overabundance of product samples, pack those instead of purchasing travel sized products you already own, then you can just throw them way as you use them and don’t have to worry about packing them up and bringing them home.

And that, my friends is my short and sweet list of summer travel beauty hacks. HA! I hope maybe you found something that will help you out this summer!!

What is your personal summer travel beauty hack??

I’m planning my annual two-week trip to the Caribbean in July and I need all these tips. I’m trying to pack very light since we will have a washer/dryer in the condo. I love all the Bye Bye products so I have to get a few of these.

I have her the dry shampoo was definitely the way to go when you travel. I do travel often enough that I should get something like this. I will check out the dry shampoo you recommended see how well it works for me. I’ve never really understood dry shampoo and how it all works I’m just glad it does.

Great tips! Really need to be careful with any product that’s liquid like lotion because it might pop and splatter everywhere inside your bag. It’s good to acquire travel sized products before travelling and it saves space too.

I love these great beauty hacks. My husband usually laughs at how much beauty supplies I usually pack, but with some of these tips, I can probably pare it down.

I don’t usually travel during the summer, the times I have it’s been camping so no makeup. That bag is neat, and your post reminded me there are a couple of types of product I’d like to try.

I haven’t tried using a dry shampoo. Is this one of the best ones in the market? I only bring one brush when traveling.

AI like the list of your travel personal stuff. Lotion and sunblock is definitely a must have on this type of weather. Are those brushes nice? Are they soft?

It’s really nice to travel knowing that you have the products that you need. I appreciate travel sized products because it’s easier to take with you and you don’t have to worry about the products spilling or anything like that! Awesome tips for those traveling this summer!
