Texas Tech Game Day Homecoming 2016

This post contains affiliate links.

Yesterday’s blog post was all about my trip to Lubbock, Texas and the gorgeous Texas Tech campus. Today we are going to talk football! Or as close to football as I will ever get, HA!

Let’s just start with the fact that I am not a huge football fan…but only because I don’t honestly know that much about it! I went to a super tiny high school, we are talking 300 kids K-12. My graduating class was the biggest class the school had ever seen and we had a whopping 27 people. My older sister graduated with 14 and my younger brother with 11. We had basketball, baseball, and softball and that was it. I played basketball and softball and I totally get those sports (as well as baseball) and love them. But since we didn’t have football I didn’t grow up going to games and so I don’t really understand it. I went to the games in college but only to boy watch and because my boyfriend at the time was a huge football fan so I sort of get it but not really. I 100% only go to games to people/boy watch. At least I’m being honest…

So back to the Red Raider Homecoming Game…first of all the Jones AT&T Stadium is huge! And I think it’s just gorgeous. Walking up and seeing these flags waving in the air really got me excited!!

Also, did I mention that the stadium was huge??

I love how they mixed the old and the new together on the scoreboard. This is technically the back of the scoreboard but you know what I mean…

redraiders

Red is one of my favorite colors and to see all that black and red and see all the people getting hyped up was just a fun atmosphere to be in.

We got there early enough to see the teams warm up on the field. That was so awesome!! There were recruits on the sidelines and alum cheering the players on! Plus I got to see KK (Kliff Kingsbury)!!!! He was wearing his short sleeves before the game…those arms!!! Swoon…

practice

I didn’t get any pics of the actual game because it was blazing hot outside and I couldn’t see a thing. I got the weirdest tan lines on my forearms and scalp and the Red Raiders lost big time. So pretty much everything after this pic was downhill…HA! But really though…sorry Texas Tech. Chin up! Maybe next time!!

This football experience was unlike any other I have ver had. There truly is a difference in Texas football vs football anywhere else and I am glad I got to experience it first hand. Hopefully I will get to go to another Texas Tech game and actually meet KK??? One can only wish…

Are you a college football fan??
What’s your favorite team??

I was a football cheerleader back in the day and all my brothers played football, so I know the game pretty well. My favorite college football team is the GA Bulldogs – go dawgs! I love how you talk about people watching at the game. That’s all part of it, right?

I’m not a football fan at all lol. I’ll watch the game if I’m with friends and they’re watching it, but, other than that? Not so much! Great post! Glad you enjoyed yourself!

Although we have never attended a college football game live, we love going to our grandson’s high school football games. It’s essential to get there early because of all the pregame activities taking place on the field. It is so exciting! It sounds like you had a great time!

I do not know a lot about football myself, but I do love a good tailgating or picnic that you had in the beginning. It’s just fun to hang out even if it’s a game I know nothing about.

Texas is really big on all their football games. It would be interesting just to see the excitement of all the people cheering for their team. I don’t really watch football that much but my favorite college team is Northern Michigan University (NMU). Thanks for sharing your experience.

Wow looks like a huge event for them. I am not a huge fan too but it is mostly because I don’t understand the game and where I come from they are not famous :)

I have never been to a homecoming, football or college football game but they look like so much fun! BTW got a bit excited that you had done a vlog – next time you should totally film the day :)

I was a football cheerleader in high school, so I get the game . . . but that being said, I am not a fan. I don’t like to watch sports, they just seem so boring to me. ☺

This reminded me back in the day when we are all so active on games and supporting our peers, always a fun day, if I had to say so myself! :)

I would love to go to a college homecoming game. I went to college who did not have a football team so I never got to experience this. Looks like fun.

I never got into College football but I do enjoy the NFL. My mother has always been die hard about her sports so I learned the game early on. Even though I know the games I still go to watch the men. lol
