Holiday Hangover + Dallas Trip!

This post contains affiliate links.

Anyone else suffering from what I like to call “holiday hangover”?? I don’t know about you but I have been feeling so unmotivated ever since I got home from my trip this past weekend. I had to work Thanksgiving night so I didn’t get to celebrate with my family but I did take an awesome trip to Dallas with my girl Rebekah to watch Texas Tech play on Saturday and just have a little girl time!!

I drove to Dallas when I got off work Friday morning because we have mani/pedi appointments we didn’t want to miss. We knew Black Friday would be nuts so we made sure our favorite nail salon would be open and then booked our appointments a couple pf weeks in advance. Long story short, the appointments we made weeks before at Bellacures (which is the salon I go to every time I’m in Dallas and I LOVE) got canceled because they had people call-in and none of the local people wanted to reschedule. The girl at the front desk was extremely rude and I will not be gracing their doorstep again if I can help it. Or unless they apologize for how we were treated.

Anyway, all of that being said we were able to get appointments at MiniLuxe, which is right down the road from Bellacures and is honestly so much better!! It is gorgeous on the inside and the services we received were phenomenal!

I got a regular pedi and a gel mani with a hot oil massage and y’all…it was orgasmic!! Seriously though, I haven’t felt that relaxed during a mani/pedi in a loooong time. I am also obsessed with all of their polishes. Their MiniLuxe nail polishes are all 8-free, meaning they do NOT contain the 8 toxic ingredients…toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, triphenyl phosphate (TPHP), ethyl tosylamid, and xylene. In fact, pretty much every product MiniLuxe uses in non-toxic and the inside of the salon doens’t have that typical nail salon/chemical smell. Since I have been on a non-toxic kick with my skincare and cleaning products at home I really loved being able to get a non-toxic mani and pedi!! WIN!!

For the record I chose the color “No.1” for my mani and pedi because it was the perfect red!! So if you are in Dallas and are looking for a great salon to get a mani/pedi/waxing services you have to check out MiniLuxe!!

When we got back to our hotel room I crashed in bed with a bag of all pink (strawberry) Starburst and watched Hallmark movies. Best night ever!!

For those who are going to ask, I found that limited edition bag at Walmart near the cash registers!

Saturday morning we got up early and hit up Breadwinners for an early breakfast! I had never been before but it was in Northpark which is where we had blowout appointments so it was the perfect choice. I started with this caramel cappuccino and it was soooo good!!

I also got the Basic Breakfast, because I’m a basic bitch, and skipped the toast in order to get both cheesy grits and breakfast potatoes with my fried eggs and bacon. Best choice I ever made. HA!

After breakfast we  went to Drybar for our blowouts and I seriously loved mine!! If there is one thing I can always count on, it’s that my Drybar blowout will never disappoint! If you are in Dallas, I highly recommend the Drybar at Northpark, it’s my fave!!

I got the Mai-Tai (I think?!) I always just tell them I want beachy waves with straight ends and get them to straighten my baby hairs out so they don’t curl up and look creepy! HA!

After our blowouts we Ubered to ATT Stadium to watch the Texas Tech/Baylor football game aka the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Shootout! Last year TTU killed it and Kliff got to keep his job because of that game. Since he was on the hot seat again this year after losing his last couple of games I just knew it would be like last year.

Unfortunately Texas Tech lost…they had lots of players out with injuries and just weren’t on their game. However our seats were amazing and it felt like we ere up close and personal with Kliff!

After the game we were devastated TTU lost but glad we were at the game in particular because on Sunday we found out that Kliff had been let go from Texas Tech so we got to see him coach his very last game. It makes me sad to even type that.

However I’m sure that as devastated as I am it doesn’t even compare to the players he is leaving behind and his entire coaching staff. I have loved reading all of the tweets from current and former players talking about how amazing of a coach he is and what a class act he is. I mean y’all. He seems like such a great guy!!!

Fingers crossed he gets an even better job and maybe gets to take a little vacation?? He deserves it! Get it Kliff!!

Sunday I slept in, did a little shopping and eventually made my way back to central Arkansas.

I hope you had a fabulous holiday weekend and didn’t suffer from too much of a holiday hangover!!

Ugh YES – the holiday hangover is legit. We were in NYC over Thanksgiving and we were SO busy the entire 4 days we were there it’s going to take me 2 weeks to catch up on sleep!!!

Be sure to let all your friends know how you were treated and the great new place you found. Live how you describe the experience.

You always have the best trips and looks like you found an even better salon for your mani/pedis. I’m still recovering from all the cooking, eating all that rich food that I don’t usually eat and decorating for Christmas. I need a vacay!

I am all for some pampering, there’s nothing quite like getting to spend some time have a bit of a relax and pamper session and it sounds like you found the perfect place to do it. What a great sounding getaway you got to have with your friend!

The holiday hangover is no wives’ tale! It is REAL! I think a mani/pedi is a cure-all for the holiday hangover.

The post-holiday letdown always touches down every year. A mani-pedi sounds like the perfect pick me up.

Sounds like you had a lovely trip with your gal pal. That salon looks beautiful – there is nothing like that around here in the ‘burbs of Chicago unless I want to pay $50 for a mani – which I do not.

This looks like a pretty amazing weekend. I think it would have taken me all day to decide on a nail polish selection.

It looks like you had a great time, even with the game loss. I know I need a little pampering after the long holiday weekend, my kids were out of school From Wednesday through the weekend. Lots of fun times, but definitely exhausting!

It must be exciting to watch the football game although they did not win. We are very fond of Texas, hopefully, we can go back there again.

I love college football and absolutely hate the politics of it. I’m a Missouri Tiger fan (I know you know who we are!) and my cousins graduated from Texas Tech. This was a sad day to see Kliff go.
