Weekend Adventures with P

This post contains affiliate links.

Remember last Friday’s post where I was super pumped to be off work all weekend long?? Yeah, I totally stretched that from Friday to Monday because I don’t have to be back at work until tonight. Yassssssss. Now that’s my kind of weekend. If you follow me on Instagram you may have noticed that I spent my weekend with my niece, Paycen. We just call her P for short and she’s a firecracker y’all!!

We had soooo much fun! I picked her up Friday afternoon and our adventures began! She turned 5 this past fall and thinks she knows it ALL. First things first we went out to eat at my favorite local hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint and stuffed ourselves full of salsa and queso. Then we hit up a snow cone stand and had Tiger’s Blood Snow Cones for desert! They were DELISH and hit the spot!!

Next up we made a few returns I had been meaning to get around to and hit up the grocery store. Then we made it back to my house and put on our pj’s and watched a movie on Netflix. Wild Friday night y’all. HA!

I guess we were super tired because we slept until 10am on Saturday. We had plans to go to the zoo but when we got there at noon they were only going to be open for 2 more hours and then shut down so they could set up for an event. Boooo. So instead we took our show on the road and went to Pinnacle Mountain.

Pinnacle Mountain is just outside of Little Rock and believe it or not, in my almost 10 years of living in central Arkansas I had never been there. Since I had P with me and it was getting pretty hot at this point in the day we decided to just hike a few of the smaller base trails and then she played on the playground. We had fun!!

Next we went back to my house, picked up Sophie and went to Mills Park to walk. It was a gorgeous late afternoon and we made our usual two laps around. After all the hiking and park walking we hit almost 12,000 steps for Saturday!! Woohoo!!

Sunday morning we got up bright and early and made pancakes!! I was out of syrup so we ate them with strawberries and whipped cream…YUM!! Then we loaded up and hit the road again, this time heading to Hot Springs to spend the day at Magic Springs!!

Magic Springs is a theme and water park and I have a season pass. I normally only ever go when the water park is open so I can swim and lay out. However, since the pool isn’t open yet we decided to ride ALL the rides. I hadn’t ridden the rides in forever and P never had and we had so much fun! I introduced her to all of my favorite rides (the Log Ride and Plummet Summit) and we got SOAKED!! I hope she remembers that day forever!!

Sunday night we hit the bed early (after being at Magic Springs for 6+ hours) and got up at the crack of dawn on Monday. I had an errand I had to run in Texarkana so we did that and then met up with my stepmom, Charlotte, who took Miss P back home with her. I stayed in Texarkana and did a bit of exploring (fun fact- I lived in Texarkana for 3 years while I was in Respiratory Therapy school and have only been back two or three time?? I always forget how pretty and unique it is!!) and then I headed home to nap and try to switch back to a night schedule so I can go back to work!

So that was my “wild” weekend with P and I loved every minute of it!! I absolutely love all of my nieces and nephews and LOVE spending time with them!!!

What did you do last weekend??

Those slushies look so good. I had a slushie this past weekend for the first time in years, but I went with blue raspberry so my mouth looked like I ate a smurf LOL. Glad you guys had a fun time!

Now that sounds like a wonderful weekend! I bet your niece is going to remember this for a very long time. We try to always do stuff with our kiddos because doing stuff together is better than buying a toy that they will remember for only a few days. I love what you did here.

Sounds like a fun aunt and niece weekend, including the Netflix. I’ve never heard of Tiger’s Blood snowcones but that red sure is bright and bold!

We were at Magic Springs a couple of weekends ago. It’s one of my kids favorite places for Spring and Summer and it’s not too far from home. Texarkana is a fave also as it’s one of a few spots in our state that has a Whattaburger.

Five is such a fun age! And a theme park with water park sounds awesome when it’s warm. My youngest daughter is only three years old but she loves a good adventure too.

Good to see you are having fun and taking the effort to be with your loved ones. For me having fun and enjoying with little ones makes me more younger.

It looks like you both had a blast! I have to know, how on earth did you get a 5 year old to sleep until 10am? Ah! I wish! Lol!
