Happy freaking FRIDAY!! I am soooo excited it’s Friday for two reasons. ONE. I am off this weekend. TWO. I have ZERO plans. I love a good weekend of doing absolutely NOTHING. Ya feel me? Back to this blog post though…it’s Friday and you know what that means. It’s time for the Friday Five!!
The Friday Five is just a blog post of five random things. Sometimes (rarely) is there a theme but there is always good stuff to read about! Today’s Friday Five includes two new beauty brands I tried this past week, a good movie and a few other randoms. All good stuff, promise! So let’s get to it!
ONE. I posted this pic to my Instagram Stories last week and couldn’t help but laugh at myself. Y’all. You know you’re getting gold when you get excited about prescription sunglasses. Unfortunately as I have gotten older so have my eyes. I find it ironic that only a couple of weeks before I turn 35 I had to get prescription sunglasses. I would be all “ugh” about them but mine are some super cute Ray-bans!! YAS!! I also tried a new MAC lipstick and I loved it too, you can’t ever go wrong with a bold red lip and MAC’s Ruby Woo is one of the prettiest reds out there. I got a Mac Little Lipstick because I don’t wear lipstick much and I feel bad paying for the regular sized tube when I can get the tiny one (for half the price) and make sure I like it first. Know what I’m talking about?! Ballin’ on a budget y’all…
TWO. I tried a few new brands this past week! Both were from MLM companies and I honestly don’t know why most people have a problem with MLM companies, I sure don’t. Some of my favorite products are MLM products! The first one I tried was Monat. In a nutshell Monat is a hair care company and according to their website Monat “features powerful active botanicals and bio-functional catalase that serve as UV protectors and prevent thinning, free radical neutralizers that keep hair looking and feeling naturally healthy, and an exclusive blend of vitamins and minerals to combat oxidative stress along with proactive amino acids that repair and replace essential nutrients” I tried the Revive Shampoo and Conditioner, Hair Masque, Root Lifting Spray and Blowout Cream. I liked the products ok. They were, of course, different than my usual shampoo and conditioner in that they didn’t lather and my hair didn’t feel as clean when I was done washing and conditioning it. However I did notice that after I dried it (like normal with my blow dryer) it did seem softer and more manageable. If you think Monat is something you want to try hit up my girl! I’m sure she will be happy to assist you and answer any questions you have about it.
THREE. The other new brand (and MLM) I tried this past week was Rodan and Fields. I’m sure you have heard of it before (hasn’t everyone??) like I have but I have honestly never tried any of the products. I have heard that their microdermabrasion system is second to none and after trying it I think the microdermabrasion paste is one of my fave exfoliation products of all time!! The Daily Cleansing Mask made my face feel super soft and got all the junk off my face and I LOVED both of the serums!! Now I just need to start saving my moolah for the Lash Boost! LOL! FOUR. I finally got back to the movies (can’t let that MoviePass go to waste!!!) and I saw a whopping two movies recently. Last week I saw I, Tonya and y’all I absolutely loved it. It was really interesting to see “behind the scenes”. I had to keep reminding myself how young she was when all of this was going on. Poor girl!! I also saw The Post and I loved it! It was interesting to see behind the scenes of that movie too. I’m a big history buff and seeing how that scandal broke was pretty awesome. I also just really love me some Meryl Streep and she was amazing as usual.
FIVE. I finally re-joined a gym! I waited until the very last day of January do it but it’s done. Now I just need to get my butt to said gym and work off some of this pasta I’ve been eating lately. HA!

I haven’t heard of either one of those MLM companies before. I don’t have a problem with them, it just depends o how bad my friends are hounding me to buy something. ;-) My plans this weekend….help my husband install a new microwave/range, bake cupcakes for a bake sale at church, and then a mardi gras parade in our town.

I’m not familiar with Monat or Rodan Fields. Those sunglasses look nice and dark, which is exactly how they should be.

Some days doing nothing is indeed a great way to spend the time. The prescription sunglasses are really cool.
There are some really awesome prescription sunglasses out there now, I remember the days you would have to just put tinted lenses into normal frames and they looks really odd.
I just joined Planet Fitness too! I’ve liked the place so far! It is closer to my house and a lot less expensive then gym just quit but the equipment seems just as nice … just doesn’t have a pool but I never swam because it was always too crowded in the lanes to make it enjoyable. Looking forward to a year of working out at Planet Fitness!

MLM is easily my favorite. I always end up defaulting to them.
I have been getting email invites to try Rodan and Fields products but I haven’t gotten to responding to them yet. I am glad they worked well for you. I will have to find that email and try them out too.
Ruby woo is my favourite lipstick from MAC its an amazing colour, I wear loads of reds and love it. I am loving your glasses so cool
I don’t think people have a problem with the products MLMs sell, I think it’s more the way they are set up and a combination of how some of them take advantage of their distributors (or desperate mothers, etc.) and how when friends sell MLMs they tend to get really annoying and pushy about it. I live in Utah, and it’s like MLM hub… There are at least 15 that are based out of here, and when I worked down in Utah county you couldn’t throw a rock without hitting a headquarters for one… I know so many people who’ve been suckered into them and lost a lot…
That being said, they can’t all be that way, and I have bought from a few and enjoyed the products I received.

Some of my favorite product come from MLMs, I don’t love all of their tactics but I don’t want to give up some of those awesome products!
