Updated Night Time Skincare Routine

This post contains affiliate links.

I was getting ready for bed the other morning (night shift probs…) and realized that it’s been a HOT minute since I shared my night time skincare routine with y’all. I honestly think the last time I shared a detailed post with y’all was last August!! Oops!! If you are new around here I am a skincare junkie and I have had the same routine for a few years now although I switch up my products pretty regularly based on seasons, what my skincare needs/goals are and what products I have on hand.

I have mentioned on here before that I receive a lot of PR packages with skincare products in them and I try to use them all so I can give you my honest opinion on them (I will tell you which products those are)! I also have some tried and try products that I will never stray from, hello Clinique Clarifying Lotion. I have tried other, non-alcohol based toners but they just don’t work well with my skin. Even though I vowed to not buy anymore skincare until I have used my stash up I will be buying this when I run low because nothing else can match it, in my opinion.

Anyway, let’s see what I’ve been using!! Here is my routine no matter the products-

  1. Double Cleanse. I use two different face washes, one to get the makeup off and one to actually clean my skin. This is a very important step. Sometimes I use the same product and sometimes I use two different products, just depends on what mood I’m in or what I feel like mu skin needs.
  2. Toner. This step is soooo important! A lot of people think toners are drying but they are what really gets the skin squeaky clean and makes sure there is no left over product or residue on the skin.
  3. Eye Cream. I have reached an age where eye cream is a must-have not a why not.
  4. Serum. Over the past year or so I added a serum to my night time routine and I am really loving it!!
  5. Moisturize. One of the most important steps of any skincare routine, MOISTURIZER. I used to never use moisturizer because I thought it made my skin greasy. I was so wrong!!

So that’s the basic routine. I know it sounds like a lot of product but when you get used to doing it every night before bed it’s a breeze!

Right now we are in the middle of winter and my skin is pretty decent right now. It hasn’t been to dry but I am about to travel and that always throws my skin out of whack so I am preparing for that now by using super moisturizing products. Hopefully when I get back from Chicago my skin won’t freak out like it did when I got back from Vega a few years ago. That was BAD!

First things first I have been using a makeup removing balm to take the makeup off my skin. I am currently using this one by Clinique but I am also obsessed with IT Cosmetics version (I just finished a tub of it!!). I just scoop a little out and rub it all over my dry face and neck. It takes every last bit of makeup off and leaves my skin super soft!

Next I use a regular face wash to actually get my face clean. I have been switching between this foaming face wash for acne (tis the season, ugh) and this one for when my face isn’t breaking out. I am kind of obsessed with the IT Cosmetics wash because it is so smooth and luxurious. It makes my face feel so clean!!

Next up I use my ride or die Clinique toner to make sure my face is squeaky clean! Then I apply this eye cream right under my eyes. Volition beauty sent this to me a few months ago right before they launched in Sephora and I am kind of obsessed with it. A little bit goes a long way and it so smooth feeling!

Next up is serum! I have been using this one from Glossier. I grabbed it at the pop up shop in Dallas when I was there for the Texas Tech game with Rebekah in November. I just recently started using it and it’s going pretty fast. Maybe I use too much? I do like the way  it makes my skin feel and it’s got hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to help bring back your skin’s elasticity.

And last, but not least, I moisturize!! I am currently using this moisturizer and I fully admit that this was a major splurge for me, I would normally NEVER spend this much money on one beauty product but y’all this stuff really is magical. I have been using it every single night for at least 2 months and it looks like I have barely even used any!! I got a sample of it from a Nordstrom purchase I made last summer and have been lusting after ever since. I am glad I finally purchased it and it lives up to the hype. Plus I think my skin deserves the best!!

And before I forget I have been using this lip balm/salve at night and I think it has really been helping. I used to to use this lip mask every night but it’s super thick and while I love it I needed a change so I have been using the balm. LOVE both!!

So there you have it, my updated night time skincare routine! If you have any questions about any of the products please let me know! I am also working on a drugstore favorites post for skincare because some of my all time favorite skincare products can be purchased at Target or Walmart!!

Do you have a night time skincare routine??
What has been your biggest beauty splurge??

This sounds like a great routine. Clinique really knows their stuff when it comes to skin care. I would totally give this a try.

Lavender salve.. oh my.. I need that!!

Whatever you are doing, it’s working great! Your skin looks really good. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, and my skin gets dry so easily, so I don’t know if I need the double-washing, although I never seem to do a good job taking off all my mascara. I haven’t tried any of those products and will have to check them out (the lavender salve for sure!).

It sounds like you know how to take care of your skin. I could definitely use a lot more tips. My skin is usually always dry and cracked and a few more wrinkles than I would like to have.

Ah Clinique. I’ve had good and bad experiences with Clinique. Maybe my bad experiences were hormones at the time. It might be worth another try a lot of people like them.

So, if I actually remember to wash my make up off and slap on some night cream most nights I am ahead of the game. I really need to take my night time skincare routine and kick it up a notch! Everyone thinks I look young so I think I may have taken that for granted :(

I used to use Clinique all the time but for some reason, stopped. I should go at it again because I actually don’t have a set nighttime routine.

I am so bad about taking care of my skin. I have always been pretty lacks in my routine but frankly I have to get out of the mindset since my skin is not looking great these days. I really like your night time routine plus I see that you use a serum which I have been meaning to try. And I have seen the C.O. Bigelow salve, going to try it since it has so many uses.

Double cleanse? I need thought of that. That doesn’t strip your skin of moisture at all. For sure I never miss the moisturizer. That is crucial for me – I have dry skin especially this time of year. Good tips.

Wow, this is something that I really need. I don’t have so much time to have a skincare routine but I would love to try this.

Oh, that lavender salve sounds incredible! Thank you for sharing. I find it easier to stick to a nighttime skincare routine than a morning one for some reason. Maybe because I’m a night owl ;)

I really need to get a routine down. I never thought to double cleanse… But it makes sense – especially if you’re using 2 different cleaners.

It really is important that we take care of our skin and adding it into our nighttime routine is the best way to ensure that we do this every single day!

A facial wash and a moisturizer…that’s all I’ve ever used. I would like to try using a toner and perhaps an eye cream. We’ll see.

Mine is pretty similar.. I cleanse/tone/cream. I don’t use a separate eye cream though. I probably should since I am getting way older than I need to be lol
