I have lived in my house for a little over 6 years and not changed much of anything up in the way of decor. I’ve done little things here and there but nothing too big. Last summer I finally got tired of all of my big furniture and so I sold it all and I have been slowly replacing those things and redecorating. I know, I know, I have clearly lost my mind.
I am still planning on putting my house on the market at the beginning of the year so everything I am replacing right now I am trying to also imagine it being in a smaller space. If that makes any sense…LOL!!
I sold my couch, love seat, roll top desk, desk chair and media center. I also sold all of my bedroom furniture and upgraded my mattresses to king size. I have already replaced my couch and media center and am about to purchase the matching chair and ottoman and I can’t wait to see what those look like in my living room! I am still shopping for bedroom furniture and looking for a few accent pieces, I haven’t found anything I’m just in love with and I refuse to buy something just because it’s at a good price. I want to absolutely love it. It’s a chore I tell you!!
One thing I found that I absolutely loved was a bookshelf for my living room. With the absence of the large roll top desk and media center I needed something to decorate but I didn’t want anything huge and bulky. I looked at regular bookshelves but they seemed all closed off and dark (I’m doing my living room in espresso pieces, not the typical blogger all white everything) and I love the cutouts on the side of this one, it really opens it up and the living room still feels big and bright!
So after purchasing this fabulous bookshelf and putting it together I finally busted out all of my pumpkins and Halloween decor!! I was like a little kid at Christmas time going through all of my fall decor tubs!! HA!! But really though…it was a little bit ridiculous.
After getting it all arranged just so, and making an emergency Target run for more “orange” things I finally have it all put together and I can’t wait to show it to you!! It’s finally looking like Halloween at my house!!!
(All pumpkins came from the dollar spot at Target over the past couple of years so I don’t have links to each different kind. Sorry!)
Isn’t it super cute?! I am obsessed!!!! I love all of my pumpkins, my wooden signs and especially my Harry Potter books!! I am such a die hard Harry Potter fan it’s kind of ridiculous. HA!!!
One of my favorite pieces on my bookshelf is this Happy Everything Platter. I got the mini version a couple of years ago and have attachments for all of the seasons. I love this neutral polka dot platter but they recently came out with a black and white striped version that I think I need to replace mine with (I am also black and white stripe obsessed). One day…
I got these little wooden signs at my hospital’s gift shop when they were having a 75% off sale!! I love them and they crack me up at the same time…gimme all the booze! HA!
And you know I had to break out my Wicked books to decorate with, right? That really is a good series if you haven’t read them yet! I love the musical but of course the books were better!! And that candle…ya’ll. That is my favorite candle scent of all time and I may or may not have four of them stashed in my pantry because the scent finally came back this year after 4 years of being “discontinued”. Thank you Bath and Body Works!!
Wicked / Son of a Witch / A Lion Among Men
I snagged those little burlap pumpkins at Target (the land of cheap but cute pumpkins) and my friend Gina from Desperately Seeking Gina made me the pumpkin hoops!! They are my FAVE and she even has an awesome tutorial for them on her blog!!
I also did a little fall/pumpkin decorating on my end tables in my living room and thought i would throw those on here too…I snagged the Hello Fall sign at Kirkland’s (one of my absolute favorite home decor stores ever) and then three of my favorite books! I decorate a lot with books because they add good height and they are actually books I have read, not just fancy coffee table books that no one ever reads. They also make good conversation starters!
The Heiresses / Someday, Someday Maybe / After You
And then my other end table has my newest favorite home decor…the ever so controversial cotton!! If you don’t know what I’m talking about Google Hobby Lobby + cotton and see what pops up. People. Ugh. And also, another favorite book series!
Angels & Demons / The DaVinci Code / The Lost Symbol
So that, my friends, is all of the fall/Halloween decor going on in my living room. I promise that as soon as I find a cute rug, some throw pillows I actually like and get my chair in I will do a full living room post! I am really excited about it!!
Have you decorated for fall yet??

You are so creative! I am not a very good decorator so I love seeing the ideas that people come up with so that I can replicate them.

Love Kirklands! I could spend hours there just browsing. There’s ALWAYS something perfect for every season. I was just there a couple of weekends ago buying Autumn decor for my office.

I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest fan of Halloween, but one thing I do love is the fall decor! I love how you decorated your house :)

Love your bookshelf and how you have decorated it for Halloween. When are the pictures coming of all the rest of the new furniture.

I love your decor! You kept it classy! I also love your new bookshelf! It has a classic design but the cool detailing on the sides makes it more trendy! I totally get what you are doing! I can’t wait for you to have your new home!

I don’t normally decorate for seasons, except Christmas, but this year I did purchase a bunch of fun pumpkins for my front stoop and I made a round door thing to hang (what the heck are they called??) ☺ You are super crafty!

I totally know what you mean about waiting to buy pieces until you find things that you love. We just moved into our first home this summer and it’s a bit of a fixer-upper. I decided to get the bare essentials since we’re renovating and remodeling and I didn’t want to waste money buying pieces I didn’t love to fill up space. Love the Halloween decor you’ve incorporated! And it looks like you have good taste in books too.

Oh wow, your definitely making progress towards the move. It must be satisfying to see things moving along as you sell old furniture and find new furniture. Your Halloween things are so cute!

I love all of your Halloween decorations. They are all very similar to stuff that I have and use. I love that Happy Everything sign! I need that!

There is nothing wrong with simplifying! I have a super tiny house (like 1080 square feet) so I can’t fit much in it, and it’s way too full. I need to follow your lead and simplify. That being said, your decor is SO cute. I need to get my you-know-what together and make my house look cuter…

You have been working hard! I love the pumpkins, but my favorite is the “Candy is Dandy” sign…because well, I like to drink! :) Good luck on the sale of your home and finding bedroom furniture! I’m cheering for you!

I like the way you’ve redone things. It simplified it while still staying chic.

I love the decorations you set up around your home. Simple but with an impact! I love your choice of books too. After You is one of my recent reads and I enjoyed that book very much. So difficult to put down! The cotton plant decor is interesting. Are they real?
