It’s no secret that I am a huge Netflix fan. I got rid of cable completely a few months ago and have never looked back. I would much rather binge watch a show than wait and watch to week with commercials breaking it up…total first world problems, I know. I feel like I usually watch a pretty good assortment of shows but it seems like lately all of my tv shows have one central theme…high school.
It started with a binging of Riverdale and I’m about to finish 90210 (the new one) and I have Greenhouse Academy queued up next on my list. I think they are all great shows (I hope Greenhouse Academy is, I haven’t watched it yet) and I am loving the high school theme. Although, is it just me or do all of these “kids” in these shows always seem way more grown up than I was when I was in high school??
One thing is for certain, I would not like to go back and relive my high school days. Trust me, you couldn’t pay me to go back and relive that experience, but watching all of these shows brings back good the good memories and makes me nostalgic!
So if you are on a “high school” kick like me and need a good show, or 10, to watch then you should check out these!! Netflix is the best!!
ONE. Riverdale. If you love a good murder mystery and love triangles then this is the show for you. It’s based on the Archie comic series and ties in the original Archie gang and Josie and the Pussy Cats! I also just figured out that Sabrina the Teenage Witch (TGI-Friday flashbacks anyone??) was an Archie comic so maybe she will be brought into the Riverdale series?? There is only one season out on Netflix but season two is about to start back on the CW!
TWO. 90210. If there was one show on Netflix that I never thought I would watch, it would be this show. It has always seemed really silly to me, I watched some of the original 90210 and loved it, but I was really surprised to find myself loving it and getting really wrapped up in these character’s lives. Now these aren’t necessarily people I would relate to in real life, no one I know lives that fancy, but I have to say that I’m a fan! Currently, all 5 seasons of 90210 are on Netflix.
THREE. Gossip Girl. I remember when this show came out and I was obsessed with NYC at the time so I was glued to this show. I was also obsessed with the idea of a prep school and this show kind of killed that for me because these kids were so bad! LOL!! I need to go back and watch it through to the end but I remember loving it and wishing I could be Blair Waldorf. Currently, all 6 seasons are on Netflix.
FOUR. The Carrie Diaries. Confession- I am a huge Candace Bushnell and SATC fan (fun fact- the first time I went to NYC I took the Sex and the City Tour and we accidentally ran into where they were filming a scene of the first movie!!!) and so when this show came out I had to watch it. At the time I got a couple of episodes in and then quit it. Sorry baby Carrie, it just wasn’t like the book and I lost interest. However, I have recent;y started watching it again and am loving it!! Currently, all 2 seasons are on Netflix.
FIVE. Pretty Little Liars. This show was one of my favorite guilty pleasures when it first came out. I lost interest a few seasons in and gave it up. However, now that ‘s legit over I need to watch it and see it through to the end!! Currently, all 7 seasons are on Netflix.
SIX. The Secret Life of the American Teenager. I remember watching this when it first came out and was obsessed! This is actually a really good show even if Amy does get a little whiny toward the end of the series. So much drama! Currently, all 5 seasons are on Netflix.
SEVEN. GLEE. I think this was the first show I ever binge watched online, HA! I wasn’t a fan of Glee when it first came out on TV but after watching it all the way through online I am a huge Glee fan. I love that it introduced a new generation to 80’s music and really broke down stereotypes. Currently, all 6 seasons are on Netflix.
EIGHT. Gilmore Girls. You can’t have a high school TV show list without including the Gilmore Girls. This show starts with Rory in high school and goes through her college graduation. It was so good and I love all of the relationships on this show!! It kind of reminds me of home. Currently, all 7 seasons are available on Netflix.
NINE. 13 Reasons Why. I know this show is pretty controversial but I loved it. I loved that it showed true mental illness and the consequences of bullying. I know several people personally who have said they will never watch it but I think it was very enlightening. Currently the first season is on Netflix and I have heard that shooting has begun for season 2!
TEN. Greenhouse Academy. I haven’t watched this show yet but it popped up on my recommended for me list (I guess all my high school tv show binge watching finally paid off) and I added it to my list! It sure sounds like a show I will like and Netflix usually doesn’t disappoint on that!! Have you seen it yet?? Currently only one season is available on Netflix.
What Netflix shows have you been watching lately??

I’ve been watching 13 Reasons Why lately. It is the saddest thing I’ve ever seen, but it’s so, so good. I really like it.

Riverdale is amazing. AMAZING! I recently finished off 13 Reasons Why and moved on to Riverdale. Both shows are so good, but I needed a little intrigue and cattiness to get over 13 Reasons. It’s a great show, but you’d better have your tissue handy.

I was going to watch RIVERDALE last night, but then I got too lazy to search for it so I watched some other teen TV show…. OH man, I can’t even remember what it was – but it made me REALLY SAD for kids in high school these days because it was just soooo petty. It was about a girl with like 9 million instagram followers and what not. UGH – I watched a 1/2 an episode and said – YEAHHH NO!

Big Netflix fan right here! I’ve seen a bit of Glee and 90210, both great shows. I’ve wanted to watch The Carrie Diaries, need to get on that!

Sad to say I’ve not seen any of these. I do remember 90210 from when I was in high school but at that time my mom would not allow me to watch it. Netflix is probably my favorite way to binge watch stuff.

I have to say I don’t miss the high school years! However I did enjoy 90210 and some of Secret Life when it first came out. I can see my kids enjoying these when they are a little older.

Many of these shows are quite enjoyable to watch. Riverdale is a great one because it is such an interesting take on comics that were popular when I was a kid.

This list is AMAZING. You definitely couldn’t pay me to go back to high school, either. Horrible experience… but I do love watching movies and feeling nostalgic. Maybe because of what “might’ve been”?

I used to love watching Glee! I didn’t know they had a new 90210 show! I’ve been watching the old 90210 show, as well as Full House.

13 Reasons Why seriously left me depressed. It was really good, but so sad. I also binge watched Gossip Girl a few years back. Got to love Chuck & Blair. My sorority sister actually made me a chuck bass paddle back in the day because I was OBSESSED with him!

Pretty Little Liars was one of my favorite guilty pleasures as well! The show was a little over-the-top at times, but still interesting, nonetheless.
