Happy belated 4th of July y’all!! I don’t know about anyone else but this has been the weirdest week for me. I think the holiday falling on a Tuesday has me in a funk? Anyone else? On the plus side it makes the work week shorter! WOOHOO!!
I realized the other day that I haven’t shared a makeup tutorial in a really long time and so with summer in full force I though right now would be the perfect time to do another! First of all let me just say that I don’t like to feel a lot of makeup on my face. I have used mineral based powder makeup for years now and I think that suits me just fine…it’s easy to put on, lasts all day and doesn’t feel like I have a face full of makeup on.
All that being said during the summer I try to put even less on my face because I live in the south and it gets so HOT here. Ya feel me??
Some products I don’t wear in the summer that I wear in the fall and winter are eyeliner, eyeshadow and contour. That’s not to say I don’t contour, I just use a bronzer and my blush to create a natural, sun-kissed look. And let’s be real, I don’t usually wear a ton of eye shadow on the daily, I usually just dab it in the corners of my eyes to get a little brightness going on. HA!
So let’s quit talking about makeup and get to it!! Shall we? I say YES!
First up let me show you what I’m working with…
…this is me with a full on naked face. I am pretty proud to say that I have been taking pretty good care of my skin lately due to the 28 Day Lancôme Challenge I participated in and the 3o Day Clarisonic Challenge that I did for myself. I am still using my Clarisonic about every other day and I am still loving the results I got from that. In this photo all I have done is wash my face with this soap and then I used this toner, this serum and this moisturizer. I am now fully prepped for my makeup!!
For my “no makeup” makeup look for summer I am using only Suzanne Organics products. Suzanne Organics is Suzanne Somers line of beauty products. I think I remember Suzanne best from her TGIFriday show, Step by Step!! That was one of my very favorite shows to watch when I was growing up. And you know what the crazy thing is? That show was on air over 25 years ago and I swear Suzanne Somers hasn’t aged a day. So when she comes out with a beauty line you better bet I paid attention, girlfriend looks AMAZING!!!
The reason her line is called Suzanne Organics is because all of the products are made with natural botanical extracts, enzymes, skin-nurturing anti-oxidants, organic fruits and vegetables. But even more than that they are Certified ToxicFree®. That means no PEGs, no parabens, no synthetic fragrances, no chemical emulsifiers, no animal testing and are completely gluten-free.
Now I don’t know about you but I had never used organic beauty products before this and I have to say that I was pretty skeptical. Would these products last as long as my old ones?? Would they melt off the moment I got outside?? Would they smell funny?? (I am very weird about smells, don’t judge me…HA) Well ladies (and gentlemen if you’ve made it this far), let’s find out!!
These are the products I ordered…
…clockwise from the top I got the Sheer Pressed Powder (in medium/dark), Bronzing Powder, Natural Blushing Powder (in Berry Pop), Creamy Eyeshadow (in Mother of Pearl), Matte Finish Loose Powder (in Honey), Lengthening Mascara and Perfect Finish Concealer (in light/medium). All of these products can be found on the Suzanne Organics website!!
It may sound like a lot of product but I promise my “no makeup” makeup only takes 5 minutes tops and really doesn’t even look like you have that much makeup on…
…and here it is!! It’s super easy!! All I did was after I prepped my face (wash, tone, serum and moisturizer) and the I dabbed a tiny amount of Perfect Finish Concealer on under my eyes and then blended it in with my beauty blender. This concealer has a really light finish and has just a touch of luminosity. I really felt like it was enough to cover without being super heavy. Bonus- it didn’t crease at all throughout the day!
Next I applied the Sheer Pressed Powder to my entire face. I used my beauty blender to really get it around my eyes and nose and then finished with a brush. I liked the coverage and that it was super light on my face.
After my “foundation” was on I went in with the Bronzing Powder. I was going for a sun-kissed look so I used more bronzer than I normally would. I started on the right side of my forehead and made a 3 on my face. So basically I brushed the bronzer across my forehead, cheek and chin in the shape of a 3. Then I did the left side. And then I finished it by swiping the brush down my nose and dabbed the center of my chin. You really want to get anywhere the sun would touch your face first.
After bronzing it up I went for the blush! I chose the Natural Blushing Powder in Berry Pop which is apparently a very popular color. I was reading all of the reviews when trying to decide on a color and they all pretty much said “I NEED BERRY POP BACK IN STOCK”. I took a chance on it and I loved it!! It’s a little bit lighter than what I usually go for in a blush but I think it worked perfectly for my “no makeup” look.
To finish up the face I use a giant fluffy brush (super technical term right there…HA) to dust a little Matte Finish Loose Powder in Honey all over my face. This loose powder is a finishing powder and is what will give your face that airbrushed look. Sometimes during the summer months I will actually use this as a first step after my concealer to help minimize any sweat glistening on my face throughout the day.
Finally I was done with my face and moved on to the eyes!! I used the tiniest bit of Creamy Eyeshadow (in Moonshine) and dabbed it in the corners of my eyes and then finished the whole look with a couple of coats of Lengthening Mascara. It looks like I have eyeliner on in the “after” photo but really I just got really close to my lash line with the mascara and so it looks like eyeliner…WIN!
And that’s all there is to it!! Here is a side by side so you can see the difference…
Personally, I love these products! They give fantastic coverage and I didn’t have to use a lot of product to get the coverage I wanted. They stood up against the hot southern summer sun and didn’t make my face feel heavy at all. They also had either no scent or a really light one. I told you I was weird about smells…HA!!
And before I finish this post I almost forgo two very important things!!! 1. Suzanne Organics also has a skincare line and I am currently testing 3 of the products!! And 2. you can get 20% off your total Suzanne Organics purchase by using code PRIMP20 !!!!
So what do you think??
Do you do “no makeup” makeup looks??
Do you change your makeup routine for summer??
Have you tried Suzanne Organics??

You look AH-mazing! I love the natural look the best. I’m all for a flashy look for going out, but day to day, I prefer my makeup to look like it’s not there.

The products look wonderful you used. Another new type of powders I haven’t used before. I like the more natural look for summer. Less eyeshadow more finishing powders and blushes.

Loving the Berry Pie blush! I am a natural cosmetics user but have not heard of Suzanne’s line until now! I must try this out!

You look gorgeous! I am always looking for makeup that doesn’t scream to the world “I’m wearing tons of makeup”. I can’t wait to find out more about this brand, I’ve never heard of it before today.

LOVE. The ‘no make up’ look is actually my preferred look. I like to keep things simple. I’m not too familiar with Suzanne Organics products but I’ll definitely check them out, thanks!

Love the natural look, you look so fresh! I love that it is organic as well, makes it even better.

I really appreciate natural looking make-up especially since I use make-up to enhance my features and not totally cover it all up! This looks so amazing. It’s also perfect for the summer.
