Getting Healthy with McDonald’s Smoothies

This post contains affiliate links.

I am a brand ambassador for Central Arkansas McDonalds. While I am being compensated for this post all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Yesterday I told you that my word of the year is focus and in that post I talked about really focusing on my health in the coming year. One of ways I am choosing to focus on my health is making better food choices. I am self proclaimed McDonalds Frappe addict and while there is nothing wrong with enjoying the occasional Frappe sometimes is good to swap it out for something a little healthier.

I was at my favorite central Arkansas McDonalds the other day and decided to forgo my usual Frappe for a Strawberry Banana Smoothie. Now while I may be a Frappe addict this smoothie was out of this world amazing!! It tasted really fresh and didn’t send me into a sugar coma afterwards either. HA!

But really though…just for fun let’s compare the nutritional info on the medium Caramel Frappe vs the medium Strawberry Banana Smoothie.

Frappe vs Smoothie

The medium Strawberry Banana Smoothie has half the calories, 21 fewer grams of fat, 20 fewer carbs, 100 fewer grams of sodium, and 17 fewer grams of sugar than the medium Caramel Frappe. WOW!! I love that while is really is heather for you the taste is still on point. McDonalds also uses real fruit puree and yogurt that contains live and active cultures. Go McD’s!!

So it tastes great and its good for you?! I am officially SOLD!!

Like I said earlier, I am not giving up on my frappes, I am just cutting back and substituting some of them with smoothies. I also need to get back to the gym but that’s a post for another time. Ugh.

Have you tried any of the McDonalds Smoothies??
Which flavor is your favorite??

I love strawberry banana smoothies, and I love the comparison you did for nutrition stats.

We have a new McDonalds close to where we live now. Next time we go I will try their version of this smoothie, and most likely become addicted to it :-)

I haven’t tried McDonald’s smoothies. In fact, I didn’t even know that they had them. I do like that they are offering healthier options now.

That is so cool! I have to say, when I think fast food, I don’t think healthy. I’m glad you shared this.

I could use cutting back on my frappes as well so I’ll try this smoothie next time. I love fruit smoothies of every kind and make them often so I’m pretty sure I’d love this one as well. Rock on McDonald’s.

I’d take fruit smoothies over anything anytime (except a cup of fresh brewed coffee). It is a delicious way to get those much needed vitamins and minerals. All those healthy stuff in a tall glass to go!

Wow! I had no idea how much sugar was in the frappes! I probably consume that much sugar total in a few days.

I didn’t know that McDonald’s made smoothies, I wonder what that fruit base is. I would like to be able to have an item on their menu that isn’t against my diet for the auto-immune disease I have.

I’ve had there smoothies before because I don’t drink soda and always substitute with a smoothie. Wish they had more flavors, they only have two and I don’t like banana. It’s nice to hear that they have gotten healthier.

I love both smoothies, I used to get the caramel frapps every day before I found out I was lactose intolerant. I think the banana strawberry smoothie is so good though, it always hits the spot.
