Road Trip Recap: Salem

This post contains affiliate links.

Hey there pretty people!! Happy Tuesday to you!! The last time I did a road trip recap I was just finishing up NYC and then I left you hanging for a few days, sorry about that!!

After we hit up the Starbucks in Times Square we hit the road again and we traveled from NYC to our next hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After settling into our hotel we hit the road for our actual destination for the evening, Salem!!

My sweet bloggy friend turned real life friend, Jenn, sent us a Starbuck gift card beucase she is from the area!! Thank you Jenn!!!

I have always wanted to go to Salem and I actually wish we had gone closer to fall. How fun would that have been?!?!!! Salem is the cutest little town with brick streets and shops with the cutest names! And hello, you can’t go to Salem and not think about the Salem Witch Trials and Hocus Pocus.

We got there in the late afternoon and walked around a bit. There were these “Lady of Salem” statuettes on most of the street lights. They were in all different styles of dress from super plain to super gaudy. I liked this one the best.

This is the East Indian Maritime Hall and I wish we could have gone in but it was closed by the time we got there.

This is one of the cute shops I was talking about earlier. I love book stores and this one was just adorable!! It’s called Wicked Good Books and I could have spent forever in there!

This may just be my favorite statue of all time…it’s Samantha from Bewitched! I used to love that TV show growing up and even though she’s obviously a fictional character I love that she has a statue in Salem.

After walking around for a little while we met up with a group and did a night time walking tour of Salem. We chose Spellbound Tours and it was one of the best tours I have ever been on. It was very informative and I actually learned a lot about the history of Salem.

We went a lot of places and even though I didn’t get any ghost photos I did get a couple of great shots of historical places in Salem. Our first stop was the St. Peter’s Church. It is a gorgeous church and has a huge graveyard!!

We also saw the Salem Town Hall. You may recognize this building from the movie Hocus Pocus. This is the building the parents went to the big dance at the end in. Filming for Hocus Pocus 2 should start soon, if it hasn’t already!

It got really dark outside after that and I didn’t get anymore good pics. Boooooooo…

After the tour we grabbed a bite to eat and then headed back to our hotel. We had to get a good night’s sleep because the next day we were headed to…

Have you ever been to Salem??
Did you get any ghost pics??

I’ve never been to Salem before but then again I’ve never been to MA before either although I lived in NYC for almost all my life.

I lived in the North Shore area of Boston and Salem was about 20 minutes from me. I’ve been there many of times. Such a fun place to be around Halloween.

Oh wow, I’d definitely want to go on that tour. I had no idea Samantha had her own statue in the city.

Oh, what fun! I loved Samantha from Bewitched, too. I tried to do the nose thing and clean my room when I was little. It never worked. I’ve never been to Salem and it looks like such a great trip.

I need to take one last road trip before summer ends. The Bewitched statue brings back so many great memories.

Salem is an amazing place with so much history! It’s really not too far for me to travel to as I live in Maine so we make weekend trips every once in awhile. It’s definitely a hot spot during the Halloween season!

This looks like so much fun – and I love that Samantha has her own statue. Good for Salem for embracing their past and having a bit of fun, while acknowledging the terrible history.
