This week is all about the epic road trip I am starting next week. Yesterday I told you about a few places I wanted to visit in Washington DC and today we are on to the next stop…Philadelphia!!
I have wanted to go to Philly for some time now…one of my favorite authors, Jennifer Weiner, set most of her books in Philadelphia around Rittenhouse Square and I have been intrigued ever since!
The first place I want to visit in Philly is the Liberty Bell in Independence Park. I can’t wait to see the room where the Declaration of Independence was signed and walk the grounds!!
I also want to go to the Eastern Philadelphia State Penitentiary! Why a jail you ask? Because it’s super old and you can actually tour Al Capone’ s cell!! Very cool…
Our hotel is near the Reading Terminal Market and I can’t wait to go! The Reading Terminal Market is one of the oldest farmer’s markets in the US, opening in 1892, and contains a vast assortment of places to eat and things to buy!
I can’t wait to leave for my trip and I can’t wait to see Philly!!
Have you been to Philadelphia??
What are your must-do’s??
Where are your favorite places to eat??
I am actually really excited to read this. My family and I are heading to the Philadelphia area for the very first time this weekend as a matter of fact. We are so excited to explore the city.
I loved Philadelphia a few years ago when I was there and getting to see the liberty bell was amazing. It’s a town that is so full of history! Glad your trip is going well.
We went to Hershey PA last week, we had fun exploring. Try to see the Indian Echo Caverns, it is close to Hershey, it’s gorgeous!@
I have actually been there twice, but only once did we do anything historical. My daughter was 2 1/2, so we did the Children’s Museum which was so cool. We also saw the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Have fun!
I’ve always wanted to visit Philly. There’s so much history there.
I would love to see this side of the country. My husband has some roots in Pennsylvania and I would love to see the Liberty bell, too. What a great time!
I hope you have an awesome time. It’s a really fun city and there is a ton of things to do. Now I want to visit again!
I have relatives in Philadelphia. It would be nice to see the liberty bell and other awesome attractions in Philadelphia.
I want to visit Philadelphia soon, too! I can’t decide if I think it’s creepy or cool that you can tour Al Capone’s cell at the jail.
I have been to Philadelphia many times and have such wonderful childhood memories! There are so many historic things to see, experience and do! Philadelphia is one of those cities I think every American should visit at least once in their lifetime! Thanks for allowing me to take a trip down memory lane!
I haven’t been to Philly, but I would love to visit and explore this state. My cousin went to college there and she says a lot of great things about Philadelphia.
I’ve never been there but really want to visit. Hoping next year I can travel more. I love your pictures, they so inviting.
I have not yet visited Philadelphia but would also love to see the Liberty Bell. Seeing the prison and Al Capone’s cell would be so cool. Thanks for sharing.
I love visiting Philly. It’s so much history in that city and so much to learn and explore. I’ll be planning a trip three with the kids next year.
I have always wanted to go to Philadelphia. I hope you have an amazing time. I look forward to reading about your trip.
I love visiting Philly! I live about 90 minutes from it so I’ve been there quite a few times. I always loved shopping on South Street.
Philadelphia is such a great city! I lived there for about a year when I was younger and just loved my time there :)
How wonderful! I love the pictures you took, I have always been interested in visiting Philadelphia someday. :)
Such a wonderful place. I sometimes wonder when I will get a chance to visit them myself.
Philly is a cool town, it’s actually as far east as I’ve been towards the big metro seaboard, along with the oldest big city I’ve been in. I’ve been in St. Augustine but it’s pretty small.
