Tuesday night I went to Memphis to see The Book of Mormon at The Orpheum Theater. If you have followed this blog for any length of time then you know how musical obsessed I am and this one has been on my musical bucket list for a while now. In true Ricci fashion, I wasn’t 100% sure what this musical was about but I love going in with zero expectation. That makes it so much better in my opinion!
The Book of Mormon is a satirical look at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It follows the story of two new Elders in the church who are sent to Africa on a missionary trip that goes all wrong but in the best way possible. It is incredibly funny, seriously naughty and I actually did learn about the Book of Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.
In addition to talking about the Elder’s missionary work the show also covered topics like HIV, famine, war lords and female genital mutilation. The actors in this show were amazing and this might just be one of my favorite shows to date!
I love The Orpheum and was super pumped to get to go again, the theater is just gorgeous and I loved my seat!
The Book of Mormon will be in Memphis until Sunday November 10 so if you get the chance to see it you should go! It’s highly entertaining and I 10/10 recommend it!
