Evoking Scent Memory with Banana Republic’s ICON Collection

This post contains affiliate links.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Fragrance Group. While I was compensated for this post, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Do you believe scent memory is a thing? I do! I associate certain scents with some of my favorite people and memories of all time. For example the scent of cigars and leather will always remind me of one of my grandfathers. The scent of freshly mown grass reminds me of riding the school bus with the windows down when I was a kid.

I was recently gifted two of Banana Republic’s ICON Fragrance Collection and honestly wasn’t sure if I would like them…you see I have worn the same scent for years and was a little hesitant to try something new but I feel like it’s time and as soon as I opened the package and smelled the first fragrance, 90 Pure White, I was reminded of my Mom! I had the weirdest flashback as I stood in my kitchen and sniffed this fragrance…all I could think about was getting ready for a dance recital when I was 5 or 6 and sitting on the living room floor while she did my makeup. It made me miss her so much, in a good way, and every time I use this scent it brings back that memory.

90 Pure White is a clean, natural scent that has notes of green tea, bergamot, grapefruit, jasmine, African violet leaf, lavender, white vetiver, musk, and amber. It should be noted that all of the ICON Collection scents are unisex and can be worn by anyone but this scent is more feminine to me.

The next scent I received is 78 Vintage Green. This scent is definitely more manly and woodsy but I absolutely love it. This scent reminds me of time spent outside and my trip to Seattle for my birthday last year?! Weird but true!

78 Vintage Green has notes of bergamot, leafy greens, mandarin, magnolia, jasmine green tea, fig, cedar wood, musk, and vetiver. This scent also wears well and I always get asked what I’m wearing when I wear it.

Speaking of scents wearing well I have noticed that both of these fragrances last all day on me. I only use a few sprays at a time when I use them and get whiffs of them all day as I go about my business. They have lasted through a shift at work, a long workout at the gym, and just through life in general. I also always get compliments when I wear them. I love a fragrance with staying power!!

Banana Republic’s ICON Collection debuted in May 2017 with 5 fragrances, each available in 75mL and 15Ml: Vintage Green, Pure White, Leather Reserve, Black Platinum and Oud Mosaic. In May 2018 three additional scents were just launched: Linen Vetiver, Cypress Cedar and Neroli Woods. Each scent is formulated with layers of seductive scents that will take you on a journey through time to relive your best scent memories.

THANK YOU The Fragrance Group for this wonderful gift and I have enjoyed using both these fragrances and can’t wait to go smell the others. If you have been on the lookout for a new fragrance, or maybe one to gift to a special lady in your life on Mother’s Day this weekend then you have to go check out Banana Republic’s ICON Collection!

I probably should invest in this, versus spraying FABREEZE on myself, hahahahhahahaha! I need to be an adult! ;)

I have always associated scents with people and holidays etc. I have some great childhood memories that are associated with various scents. It’s great these are long lasting with just a few sprays.

I haven’t been in BR for a while, but these sound pretty cool and worth checking out. One of my favorite scents is.. tomato stems! I know, it’s strange. I do have some scent memories, mostly of my mom and childhood. There is something about the smell of a hot glue gun, it is very comforting.
