If you are anything like me you have tried any and all products claiming to make your teeth whiter. I have tried toothpastes, mouth washes, strips, home remedies and everything in between. The only problem is nothing seemed to work. The toothpastes didn’t feel like they got my teeth as clean as I was used to, the mouthwashes were questionable at best and the strips never stayed on! I even considered getting my teeth professionally whitened when I finished up my Invisalign treatment a few years ago but my teeth were so sensitive I decided to wait it out. And then a couple of months ago I was contacted by the lovely people at Carbon Coco to see if I wanted to their product and I though why not? I had tried everything else at this point so what’s one more?
You have probably seen photos and videos of Carbon Coco all over social media, it’s the black powder you use to brush your teeth with and it’s supposed to make your teeth super white! The black powder is actually activated coconut shell charcoal. It’s a smooth powder and is super powerful at polishing and whitening your teeth! It is also 100% natural, protects tooth enamel, detoxifies your mouth, freshens your breath, reduces plaque and promotes healthy gums!
So how exactly does a fine, black powder do all of those things?? Good question!! Carbon Coco’s medical grade activated charcoal removes stains, plaque and toxins from your teeth through a process called adsorption. All that means is that the charcoal binds with the yucky stuff and flushes them out of you teeth and mouth.
So how do you use it? You just take the toothbrush they send you (trust me, you do NOT want to use the same toothbrush you use to brush your teeth with everyday), wet it and then dip it into the powder very lightly. I know I’m usually a “go big or go home” kind of girl but in this case, you do NOT want to overdo it!!
Once you have the powder on your toothbrush you just start brushing like normal. A few tips I have for brushing your teeth with Carbon Coco are just to try and keep your mouth closed as you brush, use as little water as possible and spit it out very close to the sink. That way you don’t wind up with black water/spit running down your face and all over your bathroom counter. Also, be sure and rinse really well after using the powder!! Here is a selfie I took after a rinsing my mouth out once…
After your mouth is good and rinsed out (and free of most of the black powder) you need to brush your teeth with toothpaste. Carbon Coco includes a tube of their Activated Charcoal Toothpaste in the kit and I really like it. I was worried because it doesn’t say anything about being ok for sensitive teeth on the packaging but I haven’t had any issues with it so far!!
After you brush with toothpaste you are good to go! It is recommended to use Carbon Coco before bed just in case you has any black residue left on your teeth but I haven’t had an issue and I usually use it before work.
So does it work? I will let you decide for yourself! Here is a selfie I took a few weeks ago (before I started using Carbon Coco regularly)…
…and here is a selfie from yesterday!!
So yes, I think it really does work with regular use!! Plus it’s safe for sensitive teeth like mine and isn’t harsh at all! Overall I love this stuff and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a safer way to brighten your teeth!
Have you tried Carbon Coco??
I totally want to check this out. I was just telling my husband that I wish my teeth were whiter!
If there’s one thing I am constantly wanting to improve is to whiten my teeth. Due to coffee consumption, my teeth are yellowish. I’d love to try this product.
I have just started hearing about using carbon for cleaning of teeth. Looks like something worth trying out.
Wow I can see a big difference and will have to try this! My daughter has a naturally more yellow tinge that we’d like to brighten up naturally.
I’m checking this out! I have always wished my teeth was whiter than it is now… I have never really had very white teeth.
I have heard of using carbon before but have never tried it. I admit it sounds strange because it’s black. You can notice the difference between the before and after.
I have heard about charcoal toothpaste, but have yet to try it. The results are impressive, but I’m not sure if I can get over the color. Maybe one day!
I saw this one in instagram very promising to watch. I didn’t know that there is really have product like this. I love your white pearly teeth I’m still working mine.
This sounds like a really interesting idea! I’ve heard of similar products before but never really known much about them. It does seem like they really can brighten your smile.
Your teeth look great so I have to try this powder and paste. I have years of staining and yellowing and this looks like the remedy.
The whitening strips are so expensive these days and kind of cumbersome to use. I like the idea of this. It’s unique and yet more common sense as a brush and rinse product.
I have seen this online and have really wanted to give this a try. The results are amazing! I will need to finally try this for myself.
I always hear so many wonderful things about activated charcoal. I have to give this a try. I love your results.
I’ve been seeing this a lot online but I wasn’t sure of the brand. I think it’s awesome that you’re sharing your experience on this. Definitely something that I’d try! I love the results!!!
It is pretty interesting that brushing black carbon all over your teeth can make them whiter. Kind of funny really. But you can see the difference.
I haven’t tried this and I am in the market for a new whitening product. Sold! Thanks for the review and the directions!
My son uses this. He loves it and swears by it. I’m sure my girls are soon to follow as well
I’ll have to share this with my college age daughter. She has been working on getting her teeth whiter lately, and I’ve heard charcoal works well.
I have always been so curious about this one! I think it’s awesome that you can see the results after the first try. It’s a great way to keep your teeth clean and free from toxins as well.
I should give this a try! I’ve been using an activated charcoal toothpaste lately, but I haven’t seen results nearly as noticeable as yours. Maybe I’ll switch brands when I finish the tube I’m using. Do you prefer the powder or the paste?
