Everyday Makeup

This post contains affiliate links.

I feel like I have written a few “everyday makeup” posts (2016 & 2012) since starting this blog but let’s be honest, I am constantly trying new products and as our personal style revolves over time so does our taste in makeup. WhenI started this blog almost eight years ago I was a diehard Bare Minerals fan. In fact I still was until last fall and finally decided to try a new foundation. What can I say, when I love a product I use it forever!!

Side note – I still use the same mascara, eyeliner (when I wear it) and eyeshadow (when I wear it) as I did in 2012. HA!

Let’s start with foundation! Like I mentioned earlier I was a diehard Bare Minerals fan until last fall. I used the products for 10+ years and loved how they felt on my face. I don’t like to feel makeup on my face and so the powders were perfect for me until I decided to try something new. I think I had just been in a funk because I felt like I could see every line and crease on my face every time I put my makeup on. I had also read an article online where sometimes powder foundations can make you look older and this was also around the same time that I got Botox so I think all that just snowballed and I decided to try something new.

IT Cosmetics sent me a PR package and it included their new Confidence in a Compact Serum Foundation and I decided to try it. Y’all know what a big skincare junkie I am and so I was super excited to try this foundation. It is a cream based foundation that combines a full coverage foundation with a solid serum and SPF 50+. The solid serum combines anti-aging hydrolyzed collagen, hyaluronic acid, squalane, antioxidants and a super ceramide cream. It goes on super smooth and I only need a tiny bit to cover my whole face. I use the medium shade and have the medium tan for summer.

After my foundation I use Trish McEvoy’s Instant Eye Lift under my eyes as a concealer. As a diehard IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye user for the past couple of years I tried this amazing stuff when I was in Seattle and have been hooked ever since. It brightens darkness as it reduces the look of fine lines, wrinkles, sagging and puffiness for the appearance of a dramatically lifted eye. I have bene using this in addition to this under eye serum and I have to say that my under eyes have never looked better. They aren’t dark and you can hardly even see the bags! HA!

After I am properly concealed I use this IT Cosmetics blush (in Je Ne Sais Quoi). I have been using it for about a year now and I am obsessed with the color. It’s the perfect pink and looks good on literally every skin tone. I use it on the apples of my cheeks and then swipe it across my forehead, down my nose and dab it on my chin for an “I’ve just come out of the sun” look. I think blush is making a comeback in a major way and I am sooooo excited about it!!!

To set everything I use this Ben Nye Luxury Banana Powder. I use my beauty blender to do under my eyes to set my concealer and use a big fluffy brush to lightly set my foundation. I don’t use too much because that would defeat the purpose of getting away from the powdery look…right??

After my face is on I finish up with eyes. For my “everyday eyes” look (when I’m going to work, not really dressing up, whatever) I stick to just using a brow pencil and mascara. I like to keep it simple, especially during the warmer months when my eye makeup has he tendency to slide off my face, HA! For my brows I use this IT Cosmetics brow pencil (it only comes in one shade) and this mascara has been my go-to lately. I have been obsessed with drugstore mascaras lately and you can check out .

For my everyday lips I usually stick with a lip balm and my fave is this rosebud salve! It is a universal salve that you can use on your lips, hands, elbows, hair, whatever but I just stick with using it on my lips! LOL!!

So there you have it, my everyday makeup must haves. This may sound like a lot of products but it literally take me five minutes or less to do my makeup before I walk out the door in the mornings/afternoons/you know what I mean. My hair, on the other hand, takes forever! HA!

Which products do you consider your everyday makeup must haves??

I have never used concealer but I want to try it. I’ve been on a hunt for a brand that carries it. I’m really interested in the under eye concealer.

I haven’t tried IT cosmetics yet but after reading this I am going to have to check them out. Like hearing what other people have used and how it worked out for them. Saves me time and money.

All of this sounds fantastic! I honestly do not wear a lot of make up. I will put on eyeliner and some blush and basically call it a day. I might have to branch out and wear more and see if anyone notices.

Smith’s Rosebud Salve is everything! I have been using this product for years and it’s one of the only things that’s effective on my lips.

All of these products sound so luxurious. I am on the hunt for a great under eye concealer because I don’t get enough sleep. Any recommendations of a great one?

Love your everyday makeup essentials! So many amazing products that I need to try. Ben Nye Luxury Banana Powder is at the top of my list. Not sure why I still haven’t tried it.

I love that you use very few products. I’m not one to cake on the makeup so this is something I can do quickly and without it costing an arm and a leg to keep up on.

I am not much of a make person but my daughter is. She is almost obsessed with it. I’ll have to pass this along to her.

Wow that says a lot that you still use some of the same makeup products you did back in 2012! I really want to try that concealer from IT Cosmetics.

IT Cosmetics is a pretty awesome brand, I love their products and I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one. When you find products that work for you so well, it’s really hard to let go of them!

Looks like you have some great products. I know I need to get some better makeup, I look like a ghost because my foundation doesn’t match my skin tone. I hate when I buy makeup and can’t match it correctly.

Oh no! Have you been to Ulta or Sephora or a beauty counter in the mall to get color matched? That’s what I do!

My girls are still a little young for some of these products. I’m really hoping they take on the less is more approach.

Interesting thought on foundation showing all the lines. I’m like you, I stick to what I like lol. Is the salve tinted at all? Do you just wear it under your lipstick?
