I saw a meme earlier last week that said something about January being a “practice” month and letting February be the real first of the year and right now I am totally feeling like I need that to happen. HA! I had so many things I was going to implement on my blog starting Jan 1 and I have only actually completed one of those things so far so yeah. That’s just life these days. That’s my “currently”…overwhelmed and needing more hours in my day. Anyone feel me on that? So in stead of stressing about bloggy things I can’t fix right now…starting my new series, making a posting schedule for my blog, making the weather cooperate when I need to take photos, etc. I will just share with you what I’ve been up to these days, a sort of life update if you will. Here we go…
Currently…
…I finally started an email list for my blog! I have been saying I was going to do this for years, signed up for a mail chimp account back in 2012 and then never did anything with it. Ugh. So disappointed with myself. Anyway, now I am trying to build that list and as a little incentive for that I am hosting a giveaway exclusively for my subscribers this week only! My newsletter will go out on Friday night/Saturday morning and all the details will be in there but let’s just say it will include some of my very favorite beauty items (similar to what I did for my 7 year blog anniversary giveaway) so if you want in on that then get yourself signed up today!! My current email list is short so your odds of winning are very good right now! LOL!
…3 out of 4 of my blog posts were sponsored content last week and I am sorry about that. I NEVER like to have more than 1-2 sponsored posts a week MAX on my blog (any more than that and I think a blogger starts to sound inauthentic…just me??) but sometimes deadlines all fall at once and it had to be that way. Sorry guys!!
…I have finally found the holy grail of hand cream and lip/body balm. I have been obsessing over this rose salve for years now and while shopping online a couple of weeks ago I found that the same company makes a lavender salve and the holy grail of hand cream. I also snagged this rosewater skin tonic that you use like a toner. It has salicylic acid in it as well as rose water, witch hazel and chamomile. I haven’t used it yet but it has fantastic reviews. I will keep you updated on it!
…just finished watching The Magicians on Netflix and I am obsessed!! Apparently season 3 just started on SyFy and I can’t wait until it comes out of Netflix next year! HA!
…finally found the cutest throw pillows for my living room couches at TJ Maxx of all places (online…and they are still available!!) and now I think my living room is complete enough to do a full room tour. Now if only the weather would cooperate so I could take some decent photos…HA!
…I am getting my hair done this week at a new salon!! I am sooo excited!! I haven’t gotten my hair “done” since the end of last summer when I had a balayage go terribly wrong. I asked for a reddish-caramel balayage and got a bright brassy blonde and had a HUGE streak right at the front of my hair an another huge chunk right down the back. I also asked for my hair to touch my shoulders and it was almost to my chin. Not cool. It wasn’t cute at ALL and I had people at work ask me if I did my own at home highlights, it was seriously that awful. I went back to my hair lady and had her color it back dark brown a few days later and that was that. So I had to part ways with my hairstylist of 6+ years. It was a sad day, I really loved her but she couldn’t color my hair any other color than dark brown and I needed a change! So fingers crossed everything will go good this week!!
…reading The Favorite Sister by Jessica Knoll. It doesn’t come out until May (I got an advanced copy from a blog group I’m in) and it is soooo good!! If you are into psychological thrillers that are kind of girly then you should check out her first book too, The Luckiest Girl Alive. I literally read it in 2 days it was so good!!
…Amazon obsessed!! I literally buy any and everything from Amazon these days. Scrubs, toilet paper, beauty products, etc. I am so obsessed that I signed up to be an Amazon Influencer so you (and I) can see my favorite products that I purchase on Amazon and shop them for yourself! My page is here and I bookmarked it and add to it every time I purchase something from Amazon. Check it out!!
So that’s what I’ve been up to lately. Hope you had a fabulous weekend!!

I am with you – I didn’t get most of the stuff done in January that I wanted to. Life happened and made some of my stuff impossible to get to. There’s always February!
Candy says
Nice thing is you have February to still get things done. Recognize what you did accomplish.

It’s hard to believe that January is halfway over! I haven’t got as much done as I wanted, but I’m making progress so I’m not beating myself up over it.
valmg @ Mom Knows It All says
Hard to believe January is going so quickly already. I could be mistaken but do you have a new theme on your blog? I feel like it looks brighter than last time I was here.

An email list is so key for your readers – those who want to subscribe will definitely appreciate being updated! Looking forward to seeing pics of your new hairdo!

January has been a fast month for me, but not for actually getting any of my projects done. It’s one of where I’m ADDING stuff that I need to do to my ever growing list. I do feel that February will provide a better footing for me workwise, and agree that maybe that should be our official start month! LOL!

I was invited to be an Amazon Influenceras well. I still need to take a few minutes and set it all up. Seems like a fun way to share your likes with friends online.
Amber Myers says
I need to try the body balm!
I try to never have more than two sponsored posts a week too, but like you said, sometimes there are deadlines and you can’t help it!
I am Amazon obsessed as well ;)

I also cannot believe that January is almost over. Also I love that rose salve too. I have been using it for many years!
Emily says
Good luck with your email list! I have one for my blog but need to work more at making it a priority to push it as well as giving quality content to it. With blogging it seems like there is an ever growing to-do list!

Love me some C O Bigelow. It’s one of my faves, the gloss, the salves, the creams, love it all. I’ve been zooming along this month at a rapid pace and I love it!
Rosemary Palmer says
I’m going to check on that pillow – have always been and black and white fan, even as a little girl. I didn’t want a pink dress – I wanted black and white.
I so need to start an email list. And newsletter.
Joanna @ Everyday Made Fresh says
Ohh, I like that…January as a prep for February!! Good luck with the new salon! Going to a new salon is scary! You have no idea what you’re getting yourself into..It’s like a blind date! Haha.

I buy from Amazon all the time too. They have so many great deals and I can get everything delivered to my door.
Sandy N Vyjay says
I love the idea of having January as a practice month and starting the New year in February. Suddenly there are so many things that leap at you in January that you feel overwhelmed.
Debra Hawkins says
I am throw pillow obsessed! I am going to have to check out TJ Maxx. Congrats on your email list!
Fatima Torres says
Ugh, I know the feeling of posting back-to-back sponsored content. I’ve done that before. Now I try and space them out. Your readers will thank you!
Jillian Spellman says
I too feel like the New Year should start in February. I can’t believe it is January 16th already. Time is just flying and I feel like I have so much to do and not enough time.
Sydnee says
Love Amazon!! Can you tell me which book blog group you belong to? I’m always looking for new books to read.

Net Galley!!

I couldn’t agree more. I think I have a holiday hang-over as well. Find so many time wondering how to finish one blog post. Haha! So many things to do yet so little time.
