It’s Friday and you know what that means….time for the Friday Five! It’s been a hot minute since I have put together a Friday Five and since it’s the Friday before Christmas I thought I would make it a themed Friday Five and talk about my top 5 favorite Christmas movies!! Because who doesn’t love a good Christmas movie? Am I right??
ONE. Home Alone. I think every kid who grew up in the 90’s would agree that this is the greatest Christmas movie off all time. I can’t think of any movie that tops it and I have several favorites. I think every kid could relate to Kevin McAlister at wanting his family to leave him alone and in celebrating being on his own but he takes it to another level when he defends his territory against the robbers. I freaking love this movie!!!
TWO. The Holiday. As someone who is chronically single during the holidays I have come to love this movie on a whole other level. I love this story and wish I could just switch lives with someone for the holidays and just avoid the whole thing. Of course this story has a happy ending and I’m sure my story will too!
THREE. A Christmas Story. I remember this movie being a favorite of my Mom’s and now I love it just as much as she does. There are so many classic scenes and one liners that I’m sure it will live on in Christmas movie history for a long time to come.
FOUR. Gremlins. Another 80’s throwback I freaking love this movie! It’s kind of scary but I grew up loving the Gremlins and I still love them today. I think it’s time for a remake or a Netflix revival…LOL!!
FIVE. Miracle on 34th Street. The 90’s version, not the original. Please don’t hate me for loving the remake better but I think it just is! It’s a John Hughes remake and that man made some great movies in his day…Pretty in Pink, 16 Candles, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off…etc.
What is your favorite Christmas movie??
I have so many favorite Christmas movies and I have not seen any this season. I need to take some time off and watch a few of my favorites. Home Alone remains in the top 3. It’s such a great movie.
We watch a ton of Christmas movies every year. This was is no different. You have listed some classic movies to watch. We love the Hallmark channel movies as well.
These are some fabulous movies. We also love Elf, that I don’t see on your list. We did recently see Home Alone and I like both versions of Miracle on 34th Street.
BB just did a radio broadcast of “It’s a Wonderful Life” , that classic Christmas movie starring Jimmy Stewart. Definitely worth going on a holiday movie list. BB2U
We’ve been watching so many Christmas movies lately. Great picks! I’m planning on watching a bunch more on the weekend.
I LOVE Christmas films so much! My favorite is definitely Love Actually because it’s one of the rare holiday films that I can watch year round. I’m also a huge fan of the classic claymation films like The Year Without A Santa Claus and Santa Claus is Comin’ To Town.
We’ve been so busy we haven’t had the chance to see all the Christmas movies that we love so much. Thanks for the reminder to take the time and just do it!
I love that you have Gremlins on the list, I forgot I was going to watch that with my trio soon. The boys haven’t yet seen it. Going to binge watch some of these over the weekend, I love Christmas movies!
I remember Gremlins! Mogwai (not the bad ones) were so cute. My husband still loves to watch Home Alone.
My favorite Christmas movie is The muppets Christmas movie and Garfield’s Christmas. Rudolph is a close one too!
I 100% agree on Home Alone! It’s so awesome and it just brings you back to your childhood. I also like the remake of the Miracle on 34th.
I love Miracle on 34th Street. I actually prefer the remake version of it as well. These are great picks.
The Gremlins is not a Christmas movie! ;) Ha ha! I haven’t seen The Gremlins in a long time though, so I think we might have to find it and watch it…but maybe after Christmas! LOL!
Gremlins is totally a Christmas movie! LOL!
Confession Gremlins is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I am pretty sure I have the DVD around here somewhere.
The Holiday is one of my all time fave pure Christmas movies! That and all the Die hards i watch every single year!
I think I need to watch the Holiday. I am a single lady as well and will probably enjoy the movie.
Home Alone is one of my favorite movies! One trip to NYC I visited The Plaza Hotel and had a lovely drink at the bar.
Seen all of these movies and absolutely loved them, Home Alone I see all year round and the Holiday too which speaks to me as well being single and all.
You left off Christmas Vacation???!!!!!!
I love Christmas Vacation but it’s not in my top 5!
It does seem that Christmas won’t be complete without watching Home Alone. I loved watching it when I was young, and now my kids are just asking to watch it every time. Great movie list you shared in this post.
