How to Wash Your Face Properly ft. skinfix

When I was in college I had really great skin. However that great skin came at a price…unfortunately for me I was a huge fan of the “less is more” when it came to my skincare routine. I am almost ashamed to admit that my idea of skincare was washing my face only when I took my morning shower and that was it. I always wore a full face of makeup and I never washed my face at night or before bed. GROSS!!!!

Don’t worry though, in my mid-20’s it all caught up with me (hello adult acne, YUCK) and I got a good lesson in face washing from none other than a lady who worked at a makeup counter in the mall. HA! I guess I looked confused when trying to pick out up a face wash when she asked me what my skincare routine was and I fully admitted to only washing my face in the shower and using some toner and that was it. No moisturizer, no SPF, no nothing! It’s really a miracle that I had such good skin up until then. For real though!

That day I was taught that their are many different types of face wash and that I should be using different ones when I wash my face, and that washing your face both in the morning and at night is a way better idea than just once a day.

From that day forward I have always washed my face at night first with a makeup removing face wash and then with a cleansing face wash…so essentially one to get the makeup off and one to actually clean my face. In the mornings when my face is still pretty clean from the night before I will wash it with a mild/daily exfoliating face wash in the shower and the same cleansing face wash when I get out of the shower. Then I follow with my usual routine of toner/clarifying lotion (whatever you want to call it), serum and moisturizer. Sure, it sounds like a lot to do but if it keeps my skin clean and healthy I’m down! Think of washing your face properly as an investment in your future, after all you only get one face so you better treat it right!

All that being said, today I wanted to share with you a couple of face washes that skinfix sent me that I have kind of been obsessed with lately. They sent me three products to try…Foaming Oil Cleanser, Foaming Clay Cleanser and Face Cleansing Cloths.

First u poets talk about this fabulous Foaming Oil Cleanser. I have mentioned my love of oil based cleansers on here before because they are truly the best at removing super stubborn eye makeup. Now a lot of people think that since they have oily skin they can’t use an oil based cleanser and that’s not true at all! This cleanser is actually super light and quickly turns to a foam (when you use enough water with it, I didn’t the first time I used it. HA!) and gets every bit of makeup off your face! It also leaves your skin feeling super smooth and soft. I love this stuff!!

And here is right out of the bottle…

…it turns to a foam when you work it into your damp face. I always splash a little water on my face (not nearly as neatly as those girls in the commercials always do), put a few pumps of this on my fingers and lather it up, rub it all over my face (using more water as needed) and then rinse it off really good.

Next up, when my face is still wet from rinsing off the Foaming Oil Cleanser I use the Foaming Clay Cleanser to wash my face again. Like I said earlier, the oil cleanser gets all the makeup off my face and this clay cleanser is what will actually wash my face. This clay cleanser has a really nice smell to it and is suitable for all skin types. I know it’s clay and most people associate clay cleansers as exfoliates but this is just a really good cleanser, no exfoliation!

And again all I do is work it into a lather and rub it all over my face and rinse it off really good. I will follow this with a toner, serum and moisturizer!

And last, but certainly not least is the Face Cleansing Cloths. Now I used to use face cloths all the time to get the makeup off my face before I washed it (in place of an oil based cleanser) but most face wipes weren’t very good at getting off all my stubborn eye makeup and I and to rub really hard around my eyes and that’s no good because the skin around your eyes is super fragile and always the first place fine lines and wrinkles show up! YIKES!! So these days I usually just save these to throw in my work bag to swipe up any eyeliner or mascara that has run down my face. HA!! I love that these are individually wrapped, makes them much easier for travel!

And that, friends, is how to properly wash your face. Wash the makeup off, Wash your skin, Tone, Serum, Moisturizer!! To see the products I use in both my AM and PM skincare routines, check out this post! And a huge thank you to skinfix for sending me these amazing products to try!!

How do you wash your face??
Have you tried skinfix products before??

Oooh nice. I love individually wrapped cleansing cloths and other beauty products. I travel all the time, and I love to just throw what I need into a ZipLoc bag.

I really like that oil cleanser as well. I was scared because of a breakout I had to an oil cleanser once, but not the case with Skinfix. LOVE IT!

This is fantastic! Cleansing, rebalancing and locking in the moisture of your skin is so important. Beautiful skin can’t be faked, so we have to take care of it!

Skincare is so crucial to healthy skin. It is really very important to remember that you must also take care of your skin! Sometimes it can seem too easy to forget that your skin needs some love too.

Skinfix looks and sounds wonderful. I love a foamy lather when washing my face and both of the cleansers look foamy – even the clay cleanser. I think the clay cleanser would be a nice change. I am not currently using any clay beauty products. … Oh..The wipes are fantastic for those lazy days when I’m too tired to wash my face.

I have a pretty simple skincare routine, I do need to step it up a little. I do a lot of scrubbing in the shower, and in between showers I wash with a hot washcloth. Your routine sounds great, I would like to give those products a try.

Good skin care is so important. I know my family gets sick of hearing me say it but it is the truth! I love the SkinFix line!! Also, LOVE cleansing clothes for those nights I just do not feel like doing the whole routine but we must always moisturize!

Proper skin care is very important as well as finding the right products to use. I haven’t heard of this brand before, but it sounds like a great line of products.

I don’t wear makeup so I just wash my face with my favorite foaming wash then I apply moisturizer. I would like to give those products a try. They sound like they’re so great for the skin.

Foaming oil cleansers? Sounds intriguing. If I didn’t love my current cleanser I’d probably cheat with that. I didn’t really start taking care of my skin until mid-20s.
