I have been a skincare fanatic for as long as I can remember. Sometime in my late twenties I realized that I only get one chance to do this right and so I started a pretty good skin care routine. I always wash my face twice a day, I use a good toner and a good moisturizer twice a day, I exfoliate at least twice a week, and I try to stay hydrated and get a good amount of sleep. It’s kind of exhausting just thinking about doing all of that but it must be done.
Now that I am in my early thirties I am realizing that what has been working for me in the past may not cut it anymore. I have been noticing fine lines around my eyes and mouth and some unevenness to my skin tone. Here’s a naked face selfie I took yesterday for reference…#BlessIt
After doing a ton of research I realized my skincare routine was missing something important…products with anti-aging properties. Yes, I was cleaning and moisturizing my face really well but I was doing absolutely nothing to prevent any lines and wrinkles later on. Rookie mistake!!
Since discovering what I was missing I have been looking high and low for a product that would suite my new needs. I wanted something that wasn’t too harsh, something with a retinol, and something that wasn’t too heavy. If you have read any of my beauty related, skin care posts you know that I hate feeling anything heavy on my face. I just can’t do it!!
In the middle of all of this research I was contacted by the generous women of Megaphone Influence and the Kendall King Group as part of a Soapbox Influence Project about Jouviance. Jouviance is the #1 Canadian developed skin care line and one of the fastest growing dermo-cosmetics brands in Canada. It is dermatologist tested, features the high concentrations of active ingredients backed by clinical studies and supported by patented technologies, and uses absolutely no parabens, sulphates, phthalates, mineral oils, colorants, artificial fragrances, animal-based or potentially irritation-causing ingredients.
That’s a mouthful!! But what it really boils down to is that these are amazing, high quality products that are currently available for purchase exclusively at CVS. In my box I received the Restructiv SRD (Restructiv) and the Restructiv Collagen Boost (Collagen Boost).
Restructiv is a new generation age-fighter that combines 2X the concentration of pure retinol with the proven efficacy of peptides and hyaluronic acid. Now don’t get all Samantha from SATC* scared about facial acids. It won’t burn all of your skin off and leave you looking like a character from The Walking Dead. This hyaluronic acid is a gentle facial acid that will restructure the skin matrix and fight the 8 clinical signs of skin aging: fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, dull complexion, dehydration and age spots.
This serum is super lightweight and fast-absorbing and won’t irritate your skin. You can get optimal use by using it twice a day but I always suggest implementing new skincare products slowly into your routine so you won’t irritate your skin. I would start with once a day (preferably at night) and wait a week before going to twice a day. It is to be used following skin cleansing.
Collagen Boost is the other product I received and is part of the Restructiv line. This cosmetic alternative to in-office procedures is an ultra-effective needle-free wrinkle filler which offers a visible skin-plumping effect in as little as 2 weeks. Collagen Boost is formulated with Pro-Collagen Activator (PCA), a unique amino acid copper complex that helps skin to look plumper and fine lines and wrinkles to appear diminished for a more radiant, youthful appearance
It is also best used twice a day, but again I would start with once a week, following skin cleansing and is to be followed by Restructiv. The order matters! Trust me on this one.
Since I have been using moisturizers, and now this cream and serum, I have learned a few tips and tricks and I wanted to share those with you, a few #BeautyHacks if you will…
- Keep facial products in the fridge during those hot summer months and they will help you cool down and help make a sunburn feel better instantly!
- Don’t stop at just your face, you should definitely apply any and all facial products to your neck, ears, and decolletage.
- Apply your moisturizers, creams, and serums with a (clean) brush instead of your fingers. The brush will help spread the product more evenly and give your face a nice massage!
- Pat the products around the eye areas never rub or swipe, the area around your eyes is super fragile and thin and is the first to show signs of aging!
…and that’s it, my not-so-super-secret tips and tricks for applying facial moisturizers, creams, and serums. I can’t wait to use these products consistently and share my results with you!! I will definitely be keeping these bad boys in the fridge when it’s 90*+ outside and 10000% humidity right now. Gotta love the south in the summer time. Ugh.
Last, but most certainly not least, the amazingly generous women of the Kendall King Group as part of a Soapbox Influence Project want to offer one lucky reader of my blog a $100 gift card to spend on Jouviance products!! How awesome is that??!! Get yourself entered to WIN below!!
