Five years ago today I posted my very first blog post. I was on the Blogger platform and spent all day setting everything up and coming up with the perfect blog name, the perfect (free) design, and then I did it. I hit publish and my whole life changed. Not at first, but slowly.
The first few months I blogged I wanted to be anonymous. I signed all my posts -R and tried to be mysterious, something I am so not! HA! When I finally came out of my “blogging shell” and really opened up I found myself as a writer.
I started this blog as more of a personal journal. I was about to have a breast reduction and I was scared and nervous and I was going to be off work for six weeks so I knew I would get bored and this was great creative outlet for me. It still is.
When I started this blog I didn’t really have any friends in my area. All of my friends had either moved away or gotten married and had kids so I was the lone single lady and I was bored. I prayed about it a lot and when I really starred opening up on here I really got to know people and have made some of my very best friends through blogging. I am going to Vegas with two of them for New Year’s Eve this year if that tells you anything.
Since starting this blog I have changed so much. I am five years older. I am more comfortable in my own skin. I have bought a home and gone back to school. I have traveled a lot and gotten a dog. I have loved and lost and documented most everything about my personal life on here.
I have met some amazing women and joined some amazing organizations because of blogging. I have been challenged more than ever and I have been rewarded in the greatest ways. I have gotten to write about amazing things for amazing companies and I have gotten to freelance for companies I truly care about. I was even quoted by Time Magazine on my 31st birthday.
I am so excited about what the future holds for me and this blog of mine. I can’t wait to see where I am at this time next year. Thank you to everyone who reads what I write and who comments and follows me n social media. Y’all mean more to me that you will ever know. Thank you for allowing me to share my life with you.
Happy 5th Bloggiverary to me!!

Happy Blog Anniversary! I started blogging in 2008 while in Undergrad after doing an internship with a Plus Size Online Magazine. I started as a fashion blogger then changed to lifestyle blogger. I love looking back at my older posts, and how I documented my life at the time. Sometimes I cringe looking at older post…but I truly love it and glad I got started! And I am loving your older post!!!
