WILW: Essential Oils

This post contains affiliate links.

Time for another round of…What I’m Loving Wednesday!

WILW

Today I am going to talk to you about a new love of mine, essential oils. I have seen them all over social media but never really got into it until a few weeks ago when Rebekah and I went to the Maroon 5 concert. She used Peppermint to help her stay awake when driving and she said it helped to clear her mind. She also said it helped her focus when she was studying and that was when I decided that I needed to do a little research!

doterra

I have friends that use Young Living and I have friends that use DoTerra. After some research into both companies I chose to go with DoTerra. It’s a personal choice and that’s what I decided.

I ordered the Lemon, Lavender, Peppermint Introductory Kit to start out with. These are the three most commonly used oils and I have heard such great things about them. When mixed together these three are supposed to be an “allergy bomb”. I like that you can use them individually by smell, taste, or skin application or you can combine them in multiple ways for multiple uses.

I mainly use Lavender for sleep, I put a little on the bottoms of my feet and even have Sophie puppy smell the bottle. That’s right, pets can use essential oils too!

I use the Lemon in my water to drink as a detox water. With my Invisalign I can only drink water with them in (which is 22 hours a day) but I can add a drop of essential oil to it to give it flavor and not worry about teething cavities or turing my teeth colors! I am also ordering Wild Orange, Grapefruit, and Lime for this same reason.

I use the Peppermint when I am studying or for headaches. Peppermint is a “hot oil” and must be diluted in a carrier oil (such as coconut oil) before being applied to the skin. It works great when rubbed on my temples and then wherever the specific headache pain is.

I am seriously loving my essential oils and I can’t wait to try more!! If you want to try essential oils then hit me up! I will hopefully be able to answer any questions you have!

Do you use essential oils?

This is very cool! I’ve heard about them as well! But first I have to say I love Maroon 5 so I know that was an awesome concert ;()! Ok now back to the oils…I’m good for anything that’s natural now a days. Lavender has always been good for sleeping and lemon for detoxing! Thanks for sharing! Visiting from lovelyyoublog.com!

I love using peppermint oil! I recently had a cold, and I found that it worked well to get rid of my headache and help get rid of my congestion.

I use my peppermint without a carrier for migraines and it works great. I also drink the lemon water, but I add grapefruit as well to help with detoxing. I’ve also been adding various oils to my laundry and dishwasher, and have been diffusing them in my house constantly. I’m in love!

Man – I love that you can use these to help you stay awake. I’m going to have to check this out. Also using the lemon for the detox — great idea.

I’ve only used essential oils in DIY body scrubs and really didn’t know much about them at all. I like the way you explained the different types and what they are used for. What a great, natural way to relieve headaches. I just ordered the introductory kit from Amazon. Thanks!

I’m a huge fan of lavender oil, it’s my go to for destressing and relaxing after a very long day. I’ve never detoxed before, so it’s interesting to read that you can mix the lemon oil with water and do that! Thanks for the post.

I have read a lot about essential oils and use to use them when I was pregnant and getting terrible headaches. I have not heard of this company but I am going to look into it. I would have never thought of putting the oils in water to infuse that is really a cool idea!
