Adult RSV. Who knew that was even a thing? Not me.
I worked out with my trainer last Thursday and started coughing after that but I just assumed it was because it was 10* outside that day and I was really hot post-workout. Fast forward a week and I am still coughing, wheezing, and just plain ole miserable. YUCK!
I went to work yesterday and started feeling even worse. After first rounds I went to the employee walk-in clinic on campus and was immediately treated like a pariah. HA!
No really, I had to wear this mask the whole time. Those things are suffocating. After my diagnosis of RSV I went back to work. I had to wear the mask the whole time and after I finished seeing my patients I went home. Normally I would have been sent home but since I didn’t have a fever I got to stay.
I got my meds and went home and took a long, uninterrupted, glorious nap. It was beautiful!
So now here I am with my Tessalon Perles and Albuterol inhaler…officially the respiratory therapist who cannot breathe.
Have you ever had Adult RSV? Even heard of it? I know babies get it frequently but I had never heard of an adult getting it until now. Only me…

I hope you feel better soon!

I’m so sorry darling! I hope you get better and it improves as to not impede on your life for too long. I have only heard of it in babies… do you have additional information? Like how you got it, how to not get it or what it is exactly….Well wishes!

I’ve heard of adults getting it.. Usually not so severe. I worry having one kid with lung disease and two others with asthma. It is a little ironic that you got it as a RT tho. Hope you feel better!

Thought I was getting a bad cold. Ended up in ER five days later when I couldn’t breathe. Lab results = RSV. Received nebulizer treatments in ER and could breathe again! Went home with addition of fever and monster headache. (Headache from nebulizer treatments?) Just starting to feel normal, two weeks after first symptoms. I, too, am an adult.
