I finally finished reading Growing Up Duggar!! I normally don’t do book reviews on here, I normally just tell you what I’m reading and if I like it or not. LOL! But today I thought I would tell you exactly what I loved about this book and why I think every woman and girl should read it.
I should probably start this review by telling you that I love watching 19 Kids and Counting. I have loved watching the Duggars grow up on television and “getting to know them”. I haven’t read any of their previous books but I probably will now!! Also-I can’t wait to watch Jill’s wedding this fall!!! Ok, now that my fan girl moment is over I will get to the review!!
This book is all about relationships. relationships with yourself, your siblings, your parents, your country, and most importantly your relationship with God. The Duggars are very set on spreading the word of God through their TV show and all of their books, events, appearances, etc. and I think they are doing an amazing job!!
You make think it’s silly to take advice from young women who court instead of date and don’t even hold hands until they are engaged and don’t kiss before marriage but I think they are wise behind their years. They are so self confident and at peace with their way of life and so aware of the world around them that I am jealous! I wish I could have been that way when I was in my early 20’s! But who am I kidding, I’m not even that way now! HA!
I think it’s also important to read about their daily struggles. Just when you think they have life all figured out they talk about having moments of feeling unworthy of someone’s friendship or dealing with their weight or struggling with self confidence. They make you see that they are everyday normal people too and have the daily life struggles that you and I do. So while they may not have life totally figured out they definitely handle it better than I do. #truth
Totally irrelevant to the content but I love that they have family pictures thrown in the book. It’s fun to see the family grow up before your eyes, most of those pics I had never seen!
I think this book is a must read for any woman or girl in any walk of life. It will definitely be something I gift my nieces and will recommend to anyone needing an inspirational read!!
Have you read Growing Up Duggar?

I think they’re such sweet kids, and obviously have good manners and morals. I have a problem with having so many children that your children are raising your children. I have to enlist my older daughter’s help with my young ones sometimes and I only have four. It’s impossible for Michelle Duggar to dedicate the time to each child that she should, and I just can’t get onboard with that.

I love the Duggars as well! I don’t watch their show often, but I do tune in every now and then and always enjoy it. Thank you for the book review. I’ve been looking for books to add to my Kindle, I’ll have to add this one next!

This is on my reading list, but I haven’t gotten to it yet. I’m a huge Duggar fan. I would love to spend a few days with Jim Bob and Michelle and get some parenting tips. Glad to hear that this book will be worth the read.

I love the Duggars and am always so impressed with how mama dugger never raises her voice! Her kids are fabulous and so polite and beautiful. Maybe if I ever finish the Fault Beneath Our Stars… Or whatever name it is I can read. This.

That’s funny! I’ve tried the whisper thing and my girls are like ‘what?’ And so then I have to yell :(
