I’m Down with OCD

This post contains affiliate links.

I have noticed the older I get the more OCD I get. Or maybe I am just now noticing how OCD I really am?

For example, I like my bookshelves neat and orderly arranged in groups by Author and then in order of publication oldest to newest. Weird, right??

I also like my DVDs arranged alphabetically.

I can’t stand when emails clutter my inbox. I want to read an email, answer it and them delete! Can’t stand junk or clutter.

I also can’t stand notifications on my phone. It drives me NUTS when I look at my screen and it looks like this….I MUST get rid of all the red dots immediately!!

I also like my house picked up every night before I go to bed. Doesn’t have to be spotlessly cleaned but everything MUST be in it’s place. I am a neat freak.

I also noticed that I do things in a certain order, like the order in which I do things when I take a shower. First, I wash my hair and then I put the conditioner on. I leave the conditioner on while I then wash my body, shave my legs (if they need it), wash my face, and then I rinse out the conditioner last. I take a shower in this order every time. Anybody else have a certain routine?

When I’m at work I like to write my patient list out and the times all their treatments are due and I stick to that list. I can honestly say that it pisses me off if I get new patients or patients that transfer from other floors to mine and I have to add their treatments to my list. Not because I don’t want to do the treatments but because it throws my list off.

This is also why I don’t care to work in the ER anymore….all the unexpected traumas that come in or treatments throw me off.

I am also a list maker. I can get way more stuff done if I have a list ready and can mark things off as I go.

I used to be big into couponing and so I have a little stockpile of certain items. I have them stashed away in my closet and in rows in order that I want to use them.

I also have a drawer in my bathroom full of stuff, again arranged in order I want to use them…

And a stash in my laundry room…

I seriously haven’t bought any cleaning stuff or personal hygiene stuff in over a year.

Weird right??? Am I the only weirdo out there??!!

    1. My movies are in alphabetical order and I have like 600 movies. My brother gives me crap because by doing this sometimes sequals aren’t next to each other. But, I can’t stand it if they aren’t alphabetical.

    2. All of my emails (work and 2 personal emails) have 0 messages in the inbox at all times. I read, respond, reply, and either delete or move to a folder if it needs to be saved.

    3. I hate having notifications on my phone, too. I MUST clear them ASAP. The red badges…they just scream at me!

    4. I take a shower and do things in a specific order every single time. If I notice I did something out of order, it literally throws my entier day off.

    5. I make lists…for everything. Every day. I don’t think I could manage without a list.

I like to think that I’m an organizational freak, not OCD. ;)

I tend to group things in how they are or whatever. For my books, I have them organized on shelves by favorites vs ones I enjoyed. Clothes are short sleeves, tank tops, sweaters, cardigans, etc.

I’m totally with you on the bookshelves, DVD’s and email inbox thing! It especially drives me nuts to have a cluttered inbox – I hate having more than about 30 in there at any given time. One of my supervisors always has (1000+ unread) at the top of her screen at THAT drives me nuts!! Haha. Even though it’s not mine! I don’t have a smartphone, but I’m sure notifications would bother me the same way. So you’re not alone :)

Oh my gosh we’re twins. Seriously. My bookshelves are the same way, but I also separate them in to “have read” and “have not read” shelves as well. And I totally have the same exact shower routine every day. It’s similar to yours, but I wash my face while the shampoo is in, and then bathe/shave while the conditioner is in. I seriously am OCD about a lot of random things as well. And I love the way you’ve organized your surplus products too!

Oh and also, one of my friends texted me the other day wanting to know I would come organize her house if she paid me, and bought me dinner and drinks. I would totally be up for that, but she lives four hours away :( Otherwise, I’d love that!

New follower here! I am so OCD with my book shelf, alphabetical order by author, DVD’s same by title. My nephew was looking for Finding Nemo and I was like “it’s in the F’s…”
I like routines and lists, I hate full email boxes and those red dots on my phone drive me crazy too!!

I understand completely. My DVDs are arranged by type then alphabetic order. CDs are the same way. I have my manga (Japaneses comics)in order by how much I read them. I also used to have a list for all my DVD/CD/Books. I love organization and I am about to a major overhaul to my closet. (Yes I am that chick that organizes by type of shirt and then color.) I am all about being neat.

I’m the same way when it comes to my phone and DVD/CD’s too! Makes it so much easier to find when they are all in order alphabetically! I am very very OCD when it comes to all the closets in the house too!

I am totally with you! I organize my movies in alpha order by title. I do the books by category, but then in size order. I definitely can’t handle having a little red dot on my iphone screen. I go insane! And I keep the “extras” of all household goods in a certain spot…and I’m usually pretty well stocked :) Totally can identify!! Hope you have a great weekend!
