I am a brand ambassador for Central Arkansas McDonald’s. While I am being compensated for this post all thoughts and opinions are my own.
The holiday season has officially begun. My tree is up (sorta), all of my Christmas presents are purchased and wrapped, the Hallmark channel has Christmas movies playing 24/7, Christmas music is at full blast on pretty much every radio station and all of my neighbors have their lights up. I am loving it.
Call me crazy but I even love holiday road trips. I get it, they aren’t for everyone but I love a good road trip any time of the year and when my car is loaded down with family and Christmas presents that just makes it even better.
This year I am doing a lot of holiday traveling! I am going to Ohio with my little brother and his family to see our Grandparents for a long weekend at the beginning of the month and then closer to Christmas I am going down south to spend time and do Christmas with the rest of my extended family. I will also be headed to see family in Hot Springs at some point this month. Like I said, I will have been the road a lot this month (for me anyway)!
Before I head out on any trip big or small I always make sure the oil in my car is changed and it is full. I also wash my car and clean it out really good (especially if other people will be in the car with me). I check my tire pressure and make sure that’s good to go and then I make sure I have everything I need in the car with me…phone chargers, GPS (updated!), trash bags, car scissors (If you don’t carry scissors in your car you aren’t doing it right), neck pillow, dog leash and travel water bowl, etc. And of course I make sure I have a full tank of gas before I head out!
When I actually get on the road I make sure everyone is comfortable, everything I need is within reach and I map out my route. I have been using the Google Maps app on my phone rather than relying on my GPS. I love that it updates in real time and gives you traffic updates. It also tells you where gas stations are, how much gas is there and tells you what food options are nearby!
Now I don’t know about you but I have certain places I like to stop when I’m on the road. I have my favorite gas station chains that I will go out of my way to stop at (well lit, good bathrooms, non-scary places. A single girl traveler needs to know these things!) and of course I have my favorite food options as well.
McDonald’s always has and will always be my favorite place to grab a bite to eat at whether I’m driving around my hometown running errands or traveling across the country. I know when I see those Golden Arches that good food is going to be in my belly soon. I love knowing that no matter where I am when I see a McDonald’s I will get good, quality food and super yummy drinks. I know that a frappe is the same in every state and that a double cheeseburger tastes as good in Arkansas as it does in Ohio.
I also know I can try new and different regional items (like lobster sandwiches in the northeast!!) and that’s always fun! And I know I can get my favorite caffeine fix pretty much anywhere at any time! I have always loved McDonald’s but especially when I’m on a road trip!
Have you tried McDonald’s new Peppermint Mocha or Peppermint Hot Chocolate? They’re perfect for a December road trip! Don’t forget to download the McDonald’s app and when you buy 5 McCafe beverages, you’ll get the 6th FREE!
So if you are traveling near or far this holiday season remember that McDonald’s has your back!
Are you traveling this holiday season??

Can I just say how many times we have needed scissors in the car? And now I finally keep them in the door pocket – sure enough, we use them all the time!!
I love McDonalds coffee, and it is totally a road-trip must-have. I have been to all the McDonald’s up and down the NYS Thruway and other areas we frequently travel. It’s the worst when we can’t find a McD’s!
