Growing up I always wanted to be “Miss” something to another. I was in the school beauty pageant every single year from the 5th grade until I was a senior in high school. I never won but always came in 1st or 2nd runner up. I feel like that was sort of a precursor to my whole entire life…never the winner but always second or third place. Ya feel me?
You may be wondering why I am starting a Talk to Me Wednesday post off like that because being a “Miss” something or other shouldn’t have anything to do with blogging. Or does it?
I have been a member of the Arkansas Women Bloggers for a couple of years now. Mostly I was just a larker…reading all of the Facebook posts, learning things from the questions others would ask, never actually getting involved but wishing I could somehow.
I don’t even remember how I actually got involved with my fellow Arkansas Women Bloggers but I do remember going to a blogging event with my bestie Rebekah in the spring of 2014, meeting some of the other Arkansas bloggers and I have been involved ever since!
Since joining the Arkansas Women Bloggers I have had the opportunity to guest post on the ARWB website, write for OnlyInArk.com, write for the Hot Springs Tourism website, be a Central Arkansas Brand Ambassador, gotten tickets to lots of local events, worked with a ton of Arkansas based brands on sponsored projects, got to tour Riceland and even attended Megaphone Summit! I’m sure there is a lot more I have done but my mind is drawing a blank.
I have gotten all of these opportunities all from joining a local blogging group. I have met the most amazing people and gotten to travel my state for various blog projects and conferences. I have met more people and formed friendships with people I never would have otherwise. I love my blogging clan. They are amazing!!
I even have the privilege of holding the title “Miss February” for them this month. I have written a couple posts for the website, an intro post and a post about Friend Love, and there will be more to come throughout the month. I will also be taking over The Women Bloggers Instagram account this coming Friday so be on the lookout to see how I spend a day off work doing my blog thing!!
I am excited and honored to hold this title and at the same time can’t wait to pass the honor on to someone probably more deserving than myself next month.
One thing I do want you to take from this post is to find your tribe. Find fellow bloggers and entrepreneurs that share your same goals and build each other up. You need a community that you can work and build with. You need to find people on the same path as you creatively that you can bounce ideas off of and ask silly questions to. Find your people and love them hard. That’s what I did and I am grateful every day for these ladies (and one man! HA!).
Do you have a tribe??
Are you a member of blogging Facebook groups??

First of all, congrats for being Miss February! I’m a member of many blogging groups on FB. I’m probably a member of too many groups. I don’t believe there is a blogging group for my state, but there is a little FB group I joined years ago and I’ve become close friends with a couple of girls in the group.

I do know a few bloggers from NC, but there’s no group that I am aware of that gets together. I do have a few groups that I am a part of, but most of the bloggers in these groups live too far away for us to get together.
