Week two of Whole30 has definitely been a lot harder than week one. I thought I had skipped the “Whole30 slump” when I didn’t feel terrible at day 4 and 5 but apparently it just took a little longer to hit me. Ugh. However with the lows of the week also came the highs, all of which I will get into in detail further into this post!!
So, what have I been eating? A lot of chicken! That’s no different from my norm but I also made a cajun pork loin and it was pretty fabulous if I do say so myself. I like to make big portions of food so I can just divide it up and eat on it for a couple days. I have always loved to do this and I don’t mind leftovers at all.
For breakfast I am still eating a banana with blueberries and almond butter pretty much everyday. I usually drink a glass of unsweetened fruit juice with it just to get a little break from all the water I have been drinking. Now don’t get me wrong, I love drinking water but sometimes you just need to spice it up.
Lunch and dinner have been a mix of things including a homemade chicken and veggie soup I made in my crockpot with all the leftover veggies I had from the week before. I just put everything in the crockpot with some organic chicken stock and seasonings and let it go. It was pretty darn good and very filling. I also made a cajun pork roast and paired that with some roasted potatoes and veggies. It smelled so good all my co-workers wanted the recipe! For dinner a few nights I also had all-natural organic hot dogs with mustard. What can I say, I love hot dogs and some nights you just need something that literally takes a minute to cook in the microwave and is still Whole30 compliant!! HA!!
For snacks I have been eating pineapples, strawberries, wholly guacamole and bell pepper slices and crab meat. I have to have both sweet and salty snacks because variety is the spice of life!
I also started going to the gym again this past week! I have only been three times and I did cardio each time but I am proud of myself for going! I joined Planet Fitness and they have lots of classes/personal training and I definitely want to go to some of those soon so I can figure out all the machines and just get a good program going. I actually like working out and I really love the Hydra Massage loungers you can do post-workout! HA!! There is always a silver lining…
Ok, on the the bad things. I slipped up on my eating this past week. I did really well until I had a really bad day at work one day and stopped and got a pizza on the way home from work even though I knew I had food prepped and ready for dinner. I emotionally ate half of it and then felt absolutely terrible afterwards. I also had ice-cream one night simply because I woke up from a nap craving it. Keep in mind I don’t have any at my house so in order to get it I had to get in the car, drive to Sonic (it’s right by my house) and get it. I am so mad at myself but all I can do is tell myself that each day is a new day and go from there. I can’t beat myself up about those mistakes but I can learn to not emotional eat because the next day was not pretty for me after either occasion.
Now that that’s off my chest I can tell you that even though you’re not supposed to weight I totally weighed myself this past Tuesday morning and I am down eight pounds!! That’s so good for me!! I know that most of that is water weight but still, it’s something!!
So that’s how week two of Whole30 has gone for me. Can’t wait to finish up in two more weeks and celebrate in Memphis with my friends!!
Have you ever done Whole30??
Do you slip up on diets too??
Jane says
Don’t beat yourself up!! You just get back on track. <3 I'm in the middle of my second round of Whole30 too. <3

I’m just taking it day by day at this point, LOL! A lot of people are doing Whole30 right now and I’m glad to hear you are too!! Also- welcome back to the blogging world!!!

8 pounds is a fabulous loss. Congratulations. Also good job on getting to the gym three times. Well done!

Nice job!!!! I haven’t done the Whole30, but so many people I know have given it a shot and had amazing results. Keep up the awesome work! One little mistake can’t ruin all of your hard work :)

I’ve actually never heard of this diet but it sounds very interesting! I am definitely slipped when I’ve been trying to eat healthy. I think everybody does and I try not to beat myself up because next day is a brand-new day.

Hey you should be doing a happy dance down eight pounds, I know I would be. Keep going and keeping us updated on your whole 30.

I lost 45 pounds over the past year and I cheated so bad over the holidays. Gained a couple of pounds but immediately went back to my normal eating habits. You can’t deprive yourself or you will eat more and more of the stuff you shouldn’t. I pretty much live on the 80/20 principle now when it comes to eating.

I workout every day and I eat healthy. There is nothing wrong with some pizza every now and then! It keeps you sane and stops a binge from happening! Keep up the good work and enjoy it!!

I have not heard of this diet, but it sounds very interesting. I need to check it out. I think my family should try it. Sounds like a great way to boost my weight loss this year.

I’ve seen a lot of people trying this whole 30 diet. It sounds like one that might work for me. Maybe I should give it a try.
Pam Wattenbarger says
Don’t beat yourself up too much for slipping up. Whole 30 is a big change from how most people normally eat so it’s normally to slip up a little. You’re doing better than I would!
Emily says
You are so inspiring to be doing this! Do not get hung up on “cheating” you have to do what works your your life and sometimes that means pizza :) You can jump back into eating right and not let it effect you.
Katie Kinsley says
I eat chicken almost every day too. I’ve been slowly cutting out the candy and other bad things and trying to keep drinking to a minimum. I’ve been pretty good this week!
Terri Beavers says
Even with the slips up, you still lost so that’s awesome. Unfortunately for me though, now I want pizza, lol. I’ll continue to follow your progress.
Claudia Krusch says
I love how I am starting to feel flowing Whole30. I am looking forward to continuing and seeing more results.
Amanda Simkin says
I have heard that Whole30 can be quite challenging. That’s why I really try to just be very conscious of what I eat and get as much rest and exercise as possible. Scripted plans stress me out too much.
Annemarie LeBlanc says
Everyone who goes on a diet experiences slips like you did. It is really okay, that’s part of it. We learn from our mistakes and pick up from where we left off. I am happy you managed to go on and move forward from that experience. Congratulations on your achievement for Week Two!
Christine says
I can tell you from experience to not beat yourself up. I think once you start punishing yourself and feeling horrible about even a small slip up, it makes it worse. Just know that there will be times when you’re gonna have to have pizza and it’s ok. I think for me, as long as it wasn’t a daily occurrence and just an every so often thing ( and it was in moderation) I was ok with it!
Anosa says
Even with the slip up I think you’re doing great and keep it up. It will be over soon and enjoy the gym. I am yet to do the whole30 but want to try next month
Rebecca Swenor says
I have never tried Whole30 but will have to check it out. It sounds like you are eating things I love so it would be a great diet for me. I do believe everyone slips up on a diet at some point. Thanks for sharing your progress and keep up the good work.

I haven’t heard of this before. I recently became vegetarian and have been hitting the gym so that has been helpful. I have certainly got off track myself but just keep pushing ahead.
