It’s finally Friday and you know what that means!! It’s time for the Friday Five!! If you are new to these parts then you should know that I reserve Fridays to talk about five random things. Actually the lists aren’t always random and today I am actually changing it up a bit and talking about my five favorite Christmas movies!! Since Christmas is this weekend and all…LOL!!
Here we go…
ONE. Home Alone. Can I just start off by saying that the 90’s was a killer decade for movies? Most of my favorite movies that I watch even today were made in the 90’s. Alright, enough reminiscing about the 90’s…back to this post! Home Alone is hands down one of my top five Christmas movies of all time. I vividly remember going to see this gem in theaters and laughing my head off. It is still a “must see” each holiday season!
TWO. The Holiday. This is more of a recent favorite. I watched it when it came out but the past couple of years it has truly become a holiday staple in my house. I love the story and I want Cameron Diaz’s room in Kate Winslet’s cottage. And Jude Law as my boyfriend because he is just hot as hell in this movie. Mr Napkin Face? Bring it.
THREE. A Christmas Story. This movie was my Mom’s favorite Christmas movie of all time. It’s not really a favorite of mine but I watch it every year because I know that if she were still here I would be watching it a million times with her.
FOUR. Gremlins. Now this is throwing it way back because I remember sneaking into the living room and watching this one because I wasn’t supposed to. I both loved and hated it. I loved it because Gremlins are cute but I hated it because it gave me nightmares! I still can’t listen to “Do You Hear what I Hear?” without getting freaked out! HA!
FIVE. The Polar Express. Again, this is more of a recent favorite but I remember taking my little brother to see this when it opened. We used to have a tradition of going to the movies every Thanksgiving and this was one of the first movies I took him to by myself. Plus it’s just a good story!!
Honorable mentions…The Family Stone, Harry Potter (not Christmasy but the very first one came out right before Christmas and therefore they always remind me of that), Home Alone 2, Elf, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Miracle on 34th Street.
What is your favorite Christmas movie??
