The Food of Lubbock

This post contains affiliate links.

One thing we did on this trip was not rent a car or take shuttles to get around, instead we Ubered everywhere! One of the first thing I did was to ask every Uber driver we had what his favorite place to eat in Lubbock was. We got some interesting answers (Outback for everyday, Texas Roadhouse for fancy…HA!) but most of our drivers gave us some legit recommendations. So today I decided to talk about my favorite local food in Lubbock!

Friday night we went to Italian Garden. It’s a pretty new italian restaurant located in downtown in a pretty cool older building. Lubbock is going through a downtown renovation like so many towns I have visited lately and it seems to be going well if the food at italian Garden is any indication. We started the meal with garlic bread and caesar salad and then we each got the Chicken Parmesan. There were soooo many options but you can’t go wrong with Chicken Parm. It’s an italian staple and was maybe the best thing I have put in my mouth in a long time!! #TWSS

On game day our Uber driver dropped us off at Spanky’s. Yes, it was 9am and yes, they were open and serving beer and burgers. Best breakfast I have had in forever!! HA!! Spanky’s is known for their Fried Cheese so we started with that. We got the half order and it was more than enough!!

I got the Mushroom Swiss burger and could honestly only eat half of it! Soooo good!!

Perfect pre-game food if I do say so myself!!

Post-game we went to Ruby Tequila’s which was right across from the football field. If you know me at all then you know I am obsessed with Tex-Mex and Ruby’s killed it!! We got the queso to start with and then I got the Shrimp Poblano Quesadilla, it is technically on the appetizer menu but makes the perfect main course! It was huge and stuffed with a ton of giant shrimp!! YUM!!

Last, but certainly not least, we stayed at a Marriott and on game day they were giving out these yummy red and black cupcakes!! I grabbed one on my way in that night so I could eat it in bed and it did not disappoint!!! Cupcakes are always better in bed, am I right??

And there can’t be a Lubbock post without including the gorgeous Kliff Kingsbury…

So that is my take on local food in Lubbock…delicious!!!

What’s your favorite local Lubbock cuisine??
