Eyebrow Update + {Benefit Brow Bar}

This post contains affiliate links.

This may sound super silly to some but one of my resolutions this year was to grow my eyebrows out. I can’t even believe I wrote that but I did. I have tried growing my brows out a few times since then and it always ends the same…with me plucking them back down into thin little strips because I can’t stand all the out of place hairs. Ugh. The life of a brunette with really dark eyebrows is not glamorous I tell you.

I can honestly equate growing out eyebrows with trying to grow my bangs out in 5th grade. Every time I would start to get somewhere my Mom would come and chop them short again. So frustrating. HA!

But really though…I got serious about all of this eyebrow business a couple months ago and headed down to my local Ulta and let one of the Benefit eyebrow girls fix me up. Turns out I actually know the brow girl, she’s a cousin that I haven’t seen in years, small world!! She mapped my brows, waxed them and then taught me how to fill them in properly so the growing out process wouldn’t irritate me so bad. She told me that by filling them in I wouldn’t see the strays and eventually it would all grow in nicely and I wouldn’t even need to fill in as much.

These are the products that my cousin, the most awesome Benefit Brow Bar lady used on me and that I later went back and purchased.

That Instant Brow Pencil is amazing!! I was always scared of brow pencils before because they were all sharp and pointy and I was afraid that someone would be able to tell that I was filling them in but this pencil is really soft and the tip is rounded and I just have to remember to put in on in light strokes and I think it looks pretty natural. I was also always worried about wiping my bow and wiping my eyebrow off but that hasn’t happened yet and I’m pretty confident you wouldn’t even really be able to tell a huge difference even if it did. I also love the brush on the end. After every few strokes with the pencil I brush, brush, brush!! I use the Medium color.

The High Brow Glow brow highlighter also intimidated me at first, what if I put too much on?? But I really like to to define the underside of my brow. I just swipe it across the underside of my brow and use a brush to blend it really good and I love it!

Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, I can honestly say that while my brows may not be as thick as I would like them they definitely look a lot better filled in and I don’t run to pluck every stray hair I see. I call that a win in my book.

And just for fun, here is a little before and after of no eye makeup vs with makeup (brow filling, highlighting, eyeliner, and mascara). I really need to do a post on what products I use for everything…I feel like I did one a long time ago but I’m sure I have changed some things since then! HA!

I think eyebrows are so important- they really frame out the eyes and the whole face! Your eyebrows look great! I love Benefit products!

I do fill my brows and I use Anastasia Eyebrow Kit. I do it because my eyebrows seem to droop if I don’t use the filler, wax, etc. The arch stays up nicely. I’ll have to try Benefit. I love their products and your eyebrows look awesome.

Your eyebrows look great and I’d like to see my youngest daughter grow hers out some. I’ll have to share this post with her.

I have very thick black eyebrows, so have never used a pencil, but think the effect here is great. Am sure it would be really useful for so many women.

I don’t fill my brows anymore, but I did have an unfortunate accident with wax. I was about to wax my eyebrow when my dog busted through the bathroom door and jumped on me. I ended up with half an eyebrow for quite a while.

I have big thick eyebrows so there has never been a big need to fill them in. Even when shaping, I like the fuller look.

My sister has been trying to grow her eyebrows out too after they were plucked to an inch of their life. The color of this brow pencil really looks natural.

This is the only pencil I have ever used that doesn’t look fake and like I tried to draw some eyebrows on…LOL!! It only comes in three colors and I got the Medium one. Love it!!

Your brows look great! I love that structured brows are in style. I use a NYX pencil because it’s the only thing that comes close to my natural dark red eyebrow color! Great post :)

You had much more prominent brows after using the products. It just proves that it’s really effective.

The Anastasia Eyebrow Kit is a MUST whenever I fill in my eyebrows but since my eyebrows are naturally very full/thick, I don’t fill them in that much. Your eyebrows look GREAT <3

I have never been able to get into doing make-up. I want to, and I try so hard, but it’s just one thing I’m not good at! Your brows look fabulous, and I’m jealous!

Benefit was the first brow product I ever tried….and the first one I ever heard of like, I’m not sure, about 15 years ago. Still hoping that I could grow them out some….not having success.

I love The Brow Bar! During chemo I dropped in there and they penciled me in some brows that looked fabulous. I will always remember their kindess and thoughtfulness as they made me feel like a million bucks!

Luckily for most of my life I never had a problem–but now that I am getting older my eye brows are thinning. I will be looking into getting these two products and see if I can get my eye brows looking like they used to!

Mine are full – in all the wrong places! I need to fill them in the right spots and get rid of the strays – which are all underneath and desperately trying to unite in the middle. I refuse to have a Unibrow!

Very pretty. I’ve been playing around with brow kits lately, too. I used to have super think eyebrows, like the kind that are trendy now so I’m trying to make them look like that again.

I have never tried filling in my eyebrows but your picture makes it look so natural! I’ll have to consider trying it myself :)
