I have officially had my Invisalign for almost two weeks!! It’s been about two months since my initial consultation and since I had my “crazy tooth” taken out. It took forever to get my schedule coordinated with my orthodontist to actually pick up my trays but it finally happened!!
I get three sets of trays at once and I wear each tray for two weeks at a time. I go the my orthodontist every six weeks to get more molds made (to make sure I’m on track according to Invisalign) and to pick up my new trays. My treatment will only take about 6-7 months and I’m pretty excited about that.
I have some bumps (attachments) on my teeth that will help my teeth rotate and move and to help hold the trays in place.
Invisalign trays come with a few rules…the rules of Invisalign are as follows:
- You cannot eat or drink anything other than water with the trays in.
- You need to wear them for at least 22 hours a day.
- You must brush your teeth and your trays before you put them back in your mouth.
- You can’t do any whitening treatments for the duration of your Invisalign treatment.
I have found that you really have to schedule when and what you eat and only alot yourself so many minutes per meal. I have to say that this has severely cut back on my snacking and coffee drinking all throughout the day. Maybe this means I will finally lose a few pounds? I can only hope.
I have to say that I was expecting my teen to hurt a lot more than they do. Maybe that will come later? They were kind of sore the first few days and biting into things was not fun but by day three that was pretty much over. My trays were also pretty tight the first weak-ish but now they are pretty loose and that means my teeth have moved! Woohoo! Here’s to hoping everything goes as planned!!
Do you have any questions I can answer about Invisalign??
Have you ever had Invisalign and have some tips for me??
Thats a commitment 22 hours.. I used to deal with a dentist who wanted me to do this.. I believe it is a great product..
Thanks for the update! I’ll be following along your invisalign journey.
Where was Invisalign when all the kids in my school were wearing their braces. Nothing is worse than being called “brace face”. I love it!
good for you! I can see this takes a lot of commitment and discipline. Surprised too that no tooth pain but good! I can’t imagine not snacking lol but yes good for weight loss!
This is so great! The days of being made fun of for braces are over! Awesome!
This is great. You answered all my questions. I don’t think I need this, but you never know when a kid of mine might. I think they are much better than braces.
22 hours a day? I would drool like crazy with that on my mouth lol. I tried a whitening teeth stuff that uses trays too before but you only have to use it for 40 minutes, even that was uncomfortable.
22 hours a day sounds better than 24 hours a day and no possibility to remove them (as in traditional braces). Oh, I hated mine! I so wish that I’d had this option–you look SO excited, and I never was that excited about braces! Here’s to some quick and easy (and painfree) teeth straightening! :)
Wow, that is a big commitment! I can’t wait to read about your results! I have wondered how these would work!
I’ve always wanted invisalign. I needed braces as a kid and my parents couldn’t afford it now I’m looking into these!
Invisalign is a great option. I’m so glad people can have their teeth aligned this way. It opens up braces as an option for a lot of people.
You have a gorgeous smile. I’m glad you’re enjoying your time with invisalign.
Nope never hear of Invisalign – I thought it was a tooth whitener at first – but, WOW – I also wish this was ready for my son about 20 yrs ago!!
Well – I guess I have it all wrong – It is a tooth whitener – just tired! Your smile and teeth look perfect! Congrats :)
I wish I’d had this option as a teenager! I had to wear braces and hated every minute of it. Though I did get to pick out my bands and such, but still, such a pain.
It’s great to hear that Invisalign seems to be working for you. I am sure that wearing Invisalign trays is much better than braces.
I’ve always wanted to try invisalign, but never really had the funds to do it. FYI there’s a typo at the end, you have “teen” instead of “teeth” just wanted to let you know :)
I had regular braces when i was a teenager. I wish i could have had Invisalign instead. I know a few people that have had great results.
I’ve heard invisaline is a great product! I had braces as a teen, but I could use a little straightening again!
I’ve been thinking about having the Invisalign! I’m glad you got good results from it!
What a coincidence! I was just thinking of bringing this up to my dentist when I go for my check-up next week! I’m definitely looking into this…
Wow, I’m totally jealous! Lol, I’ve been looking at invisalign for a while now but it’s just not in the cards yet :)
Tell me about this. I deal my orthodontist for four years because of my teeth- from braces to clear invisalign. I’m so relieved when I’m finally out of it though I still used clear retainer which is n’t bad at all.
That’s great that they’re working for you– and with minimal pain/soreness. These are great alternative to braces!
I have seen commercials for this. I was wondering how well it worked.
What made you decide to get invisalign? Your teeth look pretty straight already. I wore braces for 2 years and still wear my retainer. My teeth have shifted because I don’t wear my retainer enough. I was thinking of getting Invisalign, but not sure if I could go through with it. I love drinking coffee for hours. But 6-7 months isn’t that long.

Oh I want this just to lose some weight, lol. Thankfully I was blessed with straight teeth, my boyfriend who I have two boys with however was not. I’m happy to know something like this is available if they need it.
Oh! That brand is good for you! Actually I’ve never try it I always considered my dentist.
Gee, they look fantastic as they are. You must not have needed much movement. My daughter got them a few years back and loved them!
22 hours seem like a long time, but maybe it’s better than it seems. I have heard a lot about this brand, but I’m not sure about trying this out for myself. Do you think you’ll stick with these for the long haul if the pain doesn’t go away?
I learned a lot about Invisalign, and wow, you have to wear them for at least 22 hours a day. Sounds like you really have to be committed and stick with the plan. I bet people do lose weight from wearing these.
I’m really impressed with how invisible that they really are when you wear them! I bet there are lots of people who use this and you’d never even know it!
Invisalign sounds like a great product for getting our teeth back in shape. I need some dental work, and am doing a lot of research.
Cool. My friend had great success with those.
