A Weekend at the Races

This post contains affiliate links.

I hardly ever do weekend recaps because, honestly, my weekends are pretty boring. If I’m not working then I am doing homework or cleaning my house. Oh what an exciting life I lead…LOL!

Anyway, this past weekend was one of my best friend’s bachelorette party!! I am a bridesmaid in her wedding in April and I was super excited to celebrate her last few “single lady” days. We decided to celebrate in Hot Springs by renting a cabin on the lake for the weekend and going to Oaklawn to watch the horse races!

besties
excuse the blurriness, this was a few drinks in and had bad lighting…LOL

We all got to Hot Springs last Friday night and went out to eat at the Fisherman’s Wharf. It was packed and the wait was over an hour so we took up residence at the bar and drank the bar’s signature drinks…Scalawags!

scalawag

Those Scalawags were seriously good. I’m not sure what was in them but two drinks in and I was under the table…LOL!

After dinner we went back to the cabin and had the lingerie shower and played games. You know your team is going to win Bridal Family Feud when your team name “Team D” Just saying… #TWSS

For the party we had cupcakes from Rick’s Bakery, the BEST bakery ever, and one of Elizabeth’s friends made her this amazing cake!! Cute, right?? I love bachelorette cakes!!

But seriously, if you ever get the chance to try anything at Rick’s then do it!

Saturday morning we got up and made mimosas and got ready for the races! Oaklawn Race Track has been one of the premiere Thoroughbred racetracks in the country since 1904, best known as home of the $1 million Arkansas Derby. I will confess that I haven’t been to the races in years and I would love to go again soon before the season is over!

Here is the beautiful bride-to-be…

bachelorette

…and yes, even though it wasn’t a true derby day we got all dressed up in our Sunday best and derby hats and we rocked it.

derbyhats

I have to add that I decided to break in my new Tory Burch flats that day and I;m really not sure why because they tore my feet up. I was miserable. Please tell me it gets better??

That night we decided to go out to eat at The back Porch Grill and if you are ever in Hot Springs I highly recommend it, it was delicious!! I was the DD so I actually remember this meal, LOL!!

lobsterravioli

I think most of our table got this Lobster Ravioli with Blackened Shrimp on top and it was out of this world. I cleaned my plate that night! HA!

martinibar

After dinner we went to a martini bar and had the BEST time!! We drank, we talked, and we danced. It was amazing!! Again, sorry for the blurry pic, it was smoky in there, yuck!

We stayed out until 2am and by then this old lady was dead tired. Sunday morning, we all packed up and went home and I can honestly say that I have never seen Sophie puppy so happy to see me, LOL! I think my sweet girl missed me!

Overall it was an amazing weekend and I hope Elizabeth had a great time. Can’t wait for the wedding in a few weeks!!

How fun!! By the way-you are so cute!! I loved all of your looks from the weekend! By the way, The Tory’s are seriously not the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. It takes a really, really good amount of time to break them in.

Looks like you ladies had one of the best weekends ever + you all look lovely & happy.

I grew up watching a lot of horse races because my grandfather had a few and we’d sometimes spend an entire day at the tracks watching the horses ‘exercise’ and practice.
