The days are getting colder and when it gets cold outside there is nothing I want more than to put my fuzzy pj pants on, curl up on the couch with a good movie, and eat something warm that reminds me of home. I love comfort food, especially this time of year!
I remember when I was little and I used to go to my grandparents house pretty much every weekend my grandmother would always fix my brother and I our favorite meal…Beanies and Weenies. We loved Beanies and Weenies. She would always make it along with Mac and Cheese and Creamy Corn and we would mix it all up and eat it together. Call it gross but that stuff is delicious…YUMMY!!
I love it so much that I recreated it the other night. It was just as good as I remembered it!!
Another comfort I love is faux Thanksgiving. Actually I’m not really sure what to call it but it has stuffing and chicken so it could be Thanksgiving like, right? After I moved to central Arkansas I had to work Thanksgiving Day and I really missed my family so one night I made up Faux Thanksgiving. It’s super simple and super filling and now it is one of my favorite comfort foods!!
Faux Thanksgiving is basically a box of stuffing mix, boiled chicken, and fat free italian dressing. You mix it up and it’s delicious!!! It’s perfect for fall/winter and really keeps you full, I big puffy heart it!!
Do you have any favorite comfort foods??
I’m all about some macaroni and cheese when I’m craving comfort food! I’m kind of odd in that I don’t like my food to touch, so I would have to eat the beanie weenies, corn, and macaroni separately! :)
I LOVE chicken and stovetop. So comforting.
Both of these look SO yummy! I am slightly obsessed with anything Mac and Cheese. That and sweet potatoes are my major comfort foods!
My favorite comfort foods have always been hearty soups, or baked macaroni & cheese.
Made me smile because it brought back fond memories. I make Beanie Weenies every once in a blue moon. Can’t forget the good stuff, right!
