If you have read this blog for any amount of of time you probably know that I love to read! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! I am glad that some amazing book series have been made into movies (Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games, etc) and are making even the most anti-reading people want to pick up a book and read. However, I feel like a few of my very favorite series have been overlooked.
Such as…
The Selection series by Kiera Cass
The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins
The Fallen series by Lauren Kate
Teardrop Trilogy by Lauren Kate
Delerium series by Lauren Oliver
The Matched Trilogy by Ally Condie
Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan
The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan
I seriously loved all of these books and hope you will too!!
I also have a short list of series that were made into movies that I thought sucked!! These book series should have been given a second chance because they could have made amazing movies!!!
Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Do you have any book series that you think have been overlooked??
Tell me about it!!

I really loved Maggie Stiefvater The Shiver Trilogy. The first book in the series was so good I couldn’t put it down. The second and third were good as well. I had heard talks that they were going to turn this series into either a movie or TV Show.

After reading The Selection, I didn’t understand why everyone in the world wasn’t talking about it. Matched was a really good series too. I’m about to start reading Delirium. I met Lauren Oliver this past weekend, and she’s so sweet! I’ll have to check out the rest of these series!

I completely agree with you on Percy Jackson. I haven’t read/watched the other two, but the fact that they are turning The Mortal Instruments into a TV show interests me!

You and I must have been on the same wavelength today. We both posted about book series. I read the “Matched” series as well, and I liked the first book, but the other two were tough to get through. I’ll check out a few of the other series you mentioned!

We read the Percy Jackson series as a family together at night. My husband and I read it out loud to the kids for bedtime. We were so excited when we heard the movies were coming as we were big HP fans. And then we saw the first one and were like “what?” They made this child’s series into an adult movie. They cast the lead characters way too old. It was ridiculous. The casino with the lotus flowers was crazy, these are children!! It could have been so much better.
I read the Delerium series, but it just seemed so weird that in one generation they went from normal people to this rigid society with love considered a disease. I’ve loved other Lauren Oliver books, but this one reminded me of The Handmaiden’s Tale. There’s no way a society can be changed that quickly.
Now I gotta check out a few of the others you listed.

right now, I am loving the darynda jones charley davidson series. Also, have been reading the Stephanie plum series by janet evanovich for years. The movie they made of that was horrible. It has 21 books so far. I think it would make a great lifetime series or even hallmark. I also have heard the wayward pines series is good. They are making a show out of that one here soon. Supposed to be similar to twin peaks.

The Selection Series–I approve! I loved that series. Very well written and it just drew me in from the very beginning. I also used to read Vampire Academy and the Mortal Instruments series! I think they just started writing too many books and I got lost…haha. But one book in particular I read here recently that was a 5 star rating, in my opinion, was called Baking Bree. I think it’s by Sarah West. It’s a great chick-literature book (and this is coming from someone who usually doesn’t enjoy chick-literature) and I found it to be HILARIOUS.
