My Favorite Children’s Books

I have always loved to read for as long as I remember. I remember learning to read early and sneaking books to read at nap time in kindergarden, I never took a real nap and I’m sure my teachers just loved that. LOL!! I also remember reading books at the lunch table and at recess. I guess you could say I was a book nerd but I didn’t care. I just loved to read!!

I have a couple of favorite book series that I would read over and over…probably because I read so fast and my Mom refused to buy me new books all the time, ha! My favorite book series growing up were the Boxcar Children, The Babysitter’s Club, Sweet Valley Kids, and Nancy Drew!! I also loved to read any books about kids going to summer camp, I always wanted to go to summer camp sooooo bad! LOL!

I also loved the “classics” Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, and The Secret Garden. Anne and Little Women are actually parts of series also that I didn’t read until I was in college. I worked in the children’s library during the summer after my freshman year of college and read a ton of books!!

I also loved the dystopian type series even when I was a kid…

The Giver is actually being made into a movie soon!! I’m pretty excited about it!!

What were your favorite books when you were growing up??

Great list! It’s made me all nostalgic. I remember having to read the Giver in elementary school and absolutely hating it. Now that I’m older I think it’s a much better book, I probably didn’t really understand it when I was in 5th grade. I really want to see the movie.

Yay Nancy Drew and Anne of Green Gables! LOVED them. :) And I’m looking forward to The Giver movie although I’m not going to re-read the book before just in case. Better to not have all the details perfectly fresh in my mind if they’re going to mess up the movie.

I loved anything Beverly Cleary! Oh how I wish my girls were obsessed with reading. They have finally started reading more but not as much as I did.

I loved the babysitter club. I was a member of the book club where you were sent books every month. I think I have almost all of them!

I loved the Babysitter’s Club so much – my neighbor and I would always buy them from the book sale at the library, and I think we had the whole series between the two of us! The Giver is amazing and I am so excited for that movie! (:

I loved the Baby Sitters Club and I remember R.L. Stine….I am just now reading The Giver. I must be the only person who didn’t have to read it in school!

    Such great books!
I too have and always will be a bookworm.
    I actually did a similar post a few months back – http://angiesangle.com/2014/05/all-about-me-friday-favorite-childhood-books.html
If there was still new Fear Street Books by R.L. Stine, I’d still be reading them lol
