Icemageddon 2013

This post contains affiliate links.

I have officially dubbed this past weekend Icemageddon 2013. Yuck. I hate snow and ice. I know that a lot of you are disagreeing with me right now but I’m sure those that disagree don’t have to go to work in this snow and ice. I work at a hospital and my job is considered to be “essential personnel” so I have to go to work no matter what the weather is. I hate that part of my job.

I went to work and stayed the night Thursday night on a cot. I knew the weather would bad Friday so I had to go and stay the night. If you call in on an inclememnt weather day you get a write up and you don’t get paid. Sucks to work at a hospital sometimes.

I had to leave my Sophie puppy at home. She stayed home alone from Thursday night until Sunday night. I left her plenty of food and water and puppy pads. I also left my bedroom door open so she could sleep in my bed. Wish I could have been there with her.

Friday morning I got up and walked down the hall to go to work. At least I didn’t have to drive in. The weather didn’t actually get bad until about 8am that day. I took these next two pictures about 30 minutes apart. That’s how quickly the roads got bad.

Some of my work friends had to work the weekend with me so we all got a hotel room for Friday and Saturday nights. That was nice. I actually got to sleep on a bed, even though I had to share it and the blanket wasn’t long enough to go over both of us. The best part of the hotel was that it offered a shuttle service that drove us to work and picked us up at night. That was soooo nice because driving on ice and snow terrifies me.

The mattresses were terrible on our backs so the second night we fixed that. We ate a ton of pizza, drank some beer, and took some Benadryl. Best sleep ever. For a crappy hotel anyway. Oh and Little Debbie Christmas cakes. Can’t forget those…YUM!

Sunday I was in the nursery at work and luckily it wasn’t too busy and I got to leave early. I left the hospital at 4:30 and got home about 5:20. The roads weren’t too bad out but I just drove reallllllly slow!

I was sooooo happy to see my Sophie puppy when I got home. She hasn’t left my side since I walked in the door and I am proud to report my house was still in one piece when I got home!!

I hate weather like this and hope this is the last of it for this year!! Wishful thinking right?

Did you get bad weather this past weekend? Did you have to get out in it like me or were you lucky and got to stay at home?

I work for a college that has a major hospital here and when the weather is bad, they pay for the hotel rooms normally. I feel for the medical center employees…I don’t know how you do it! Props to you!

I used to work at baptist. Is that where you work? I hated that part when you couldn’t make it home you had to stay there. I especially hated it also because I get anxiety when I’m gone so long away from my house. Lol argh. I like snow just not ice. Ice you can’t drive on but most the time snow you can. But of course in arkansas you never just get snow, you get ice then snow or just ice. Lol

I can’t believe you had to stay at work! That is nuts! I am lucking since I teach. We didn’t have school on Friday and then had a delay and early dismissal today. This year we are forecasted to have an awful winter and SNOW on Thanksgiving was the first sign!
