Kitchen Chalkboard Art

Happy Thursday Loves!!! I hope everyone has had a fabulous week so far! I know I have!!

Today I wanted to share with you a little project I have been wanting to do for a while. I saw something similar on Pinterest and jts knew I had to do it! I have a door in my kitchen that goes to my laundry room and it was just looking a little bare looking so I neede something to spruce it up. Therefore I give you…

I am going to make into a weekly menu or a grocery list…I can’t decide which. I really like how it turned out! Of course I had to put a big ole bow on it too…HA! I think it looks cute with my other kitchen decor as well!

Want to know how I made it? Good…

For my supplies I used some chalkboard paint, burlap ribbon, and an over-the-door black mirror.

I painted my first coat of the chalkboard paint and it was super streaky and I got a little worried.

I actually wound up putting three coats of paint on. It think it would have been ok after two but I wanted to make sure it was good and covered. I put it on with a foam brush. I did a lot of reading on how to paint with chalkboard paint and found this was the preferred method because it coats so well and gets the paint on evenly (even though it looks super streaky when you are applying it!)

I think this was after the second coat, still wet

And of course, this was my finished product. LOVE it!!! Now I just need some chalk so I can actually write on it…

I love chalkboard paint! You can make anything! I just painted my art table and my kid’s desk with chalkboard paint in our homeschool classroom and I love it! This looks so cute! Pinning!

So cute! I love it. The burlap bow just makes the whole thing! I might need to do this for my kitchen too.
