Bloggy Besties

Morning loves!

Today I wanted to talk a little about blogger interaction.

When I started blogging my blog was private and more like a journal. But I loved to read other blogs and I admit I got a little jealous when I saw other bloggers meet up in person and talk to each other on Twitter.

I felt like I was missing out but I was new and didn’t know any better. I’m also a little shy. That’s probably hard to believe if you know me in real life but I take a little while to warm up to new people.

One of the best things I did (after making my blog public) was to start joining link ups and commenting on blogs I really liked. Linkups are a great way to find blogs that you probably have a common interest in. I mean if you are both doing the linkup you obviously have at least one thing in common.

I “met” soooo many wonderful bloggers this way and now I have a whole host of blogs I read daily because of it!

I also started following more of my favorite bloggers on Twitter (I’m not gonna lie, it took me a while to figure Twitter out…HA!) and actually talking to them. GASP…I was making friends!!

Blogging got sooooo much better after that!! I was reading the blogs of people I “knew” and it made the experience so much more real.

I still remember the first blogger(s) I gave my phone number to…Allie and Allison. We would text about normal stuff and that made blogging even more fun. I made real friends. Like in real life. Sorta.

I admit, when I started blogging I was at a point in my life where I needed friends. Most of my friends are married with kids. Or they moved a bajillion miles away. I prayed about it and it’s like a door was opened for me and I started making real friends. From blogging. Who would have thought?

These days I have branched out and are texting my bloggy besties on the daily. More than my IRL friends probably. That may seem weird but I’m just fine with that.

I’m going to meet these girls really soon and I can’t wait!!!

Speaking of meeting bloggers, I have actually been on two blates (blogger dates) and have loved both of those girls!! You would think that meeting someone from online would be weird but actually it was like talking to an old friend.

I know that blogging has influenced my life in a positive way and I hope it has yours too. I have made some of my very best friends at a time in my life when I needed friends.

How has blogging influenced your life?
Have you actually made friends with other bloggers or are you a creeper like I used to be?

I have made wonderful friends from blogging! My husband is my only true real-life friend. The people I meet on blogs are the kind I wish I could find in real life. I would be too nervous to do a blate, though!

I am new to this whole blogging thing, but I too started for one: wanting to keep a somewhat journal of my life, and two: make friends who have similar interests :) I recently met a fellow local blogger, and I absolutely adore her! We have hung out twice & are getting together for a mani/pedi tomorrow. I can’t express how cool this is all turning out to be. And yes, I totally agree with looking through blogs, and who follows who because they do tend to have things in common! Which is how I stumbled upon your blog! Have a great day :D

I was just discussing blogging friends vs IRL friends with a blog friend earlier today. I must say, my blogging friendships are far better than most of my IRL friendships. I love it! :)

My journey in blogging was a lot like yours. I started just to have an outlet, but then I discovered there was a community as well. I haven’t had a blate yet, but … I’m sure it’ll happen someday. :)

I do txt a friend I read through blogging. Most of my bloggy friends like her actually listen & care like real friends should. And yes I don’t have many irl friends & more & more I’m ok with that.
I’m happy you found your happiness too!

I have definitely made some friends through blogging. I’m only texting one right now and we met before blogging through a weight loss website but it still counts right? I love getting to “meet” new people that I relate to from around the country that I would have never met otherwise!
