Why I’m Not a Fashion Blogger

This post contains affiliate links.

I was at work this weekend looking for a magazine to read when I saw one with an article on the cover that said “What to Wear at 30, 40, and 50…The Yes, No, Maybe, Never Fashion Guide”. Well that got me thinking…

Do I dress age appropriate??

I have struggled with this in the past. Not that I don’t dress age appropriately but that some days I still feel like I just graduated from college and that hoodies and jeans are appropriate everyday wear. Not saying that they aren’t for all you jeans and hoodies lovers out there but I’m just saying that I could step it up a little.

I think I struggle with this more internally than anything else. Lets be real here, I work at a job that I have to wear scrubs and cute sneakers to everyday. When I get home I am throwing on yoga capris or sweatpants with whatever tank top I had on under my scrubs. Matching? Who cares…

On my off days I would like to say I got dressed up and spent the day lunching and hanging out with my friends but honestly I spend most off days cleaning my house and catching up on laundry. Boring but true.

I sometimes wish I had a job that I got to dress up for and maybe I would’t struggle so much with staying on top of trends and I wouldn’t feel guilty spending money on non scrub-related clothing.

I see other women my age and I think they look 30 and all grown up. My idea of a grownup outfit is nice jeans, a cami, a cardigan, and ballet flats.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the cute cardi look but I wish I could expand on that…ya know what I mean?? Fashion bloggers I need help!!!

Do you feel like you dress age appropriate??

I like your style! I don’t believe in dressing a certain way because we “should” be dressing that way at our age. That is why I dislike fashion, too – I’m not going to spend my money on certain clothes that I “should” be wearing, just because people in magazines say that I have to.

If someone wants to criticize your style, they better be ready to hand over the money for the clothes that they think you should wear.

I feel the same way about not really dressing my age. However, I only dream that I had a set uniform to wear to work. I much prefer putting together a “cute” outfit with jeans than dress pants. Business casual is the bane of my existence :(

Try adding blazers or accessories can dress up that “jeans and t-shirt” look. I LOVE wearing my jeans, flats and a plan white v neck tee with a statement necklace or a scarf and I get complements all the time about it. Sometimes we over think on what we wear (I do it all the time) :)

There are probably a couple of things you could do to update your wardrobe that wouldn’t be too expensive to add. Like above, adding a blazer could be good and maybe some trouser jeans? Maybe find some cute blouses that can be worn on their own found help you feel more “grown-up”?
But I would say you dress age-appropriate. No need to spend a fortune of suit sets when you don’t need to wear them! ;)
I love helping dress other people, let me know if you ever need any suggestions!

I’ll be 25 this year and still dress this way… I have to dress business casual for work but very conservatively as well.

I went from a job I wore scrubs at to a office job where I have to dress presentable. I am with you though 99.9% of the time if I am at work I am in a cardigan and a cami. (If only you could see me now lol) I wish I could step away from it too…before I start looking more and more like Bree from desperate housewives.

I love all of your outfits…probably because it’s similar to what I wear all the time, too! Having been a teacher before, I was alllll for comfort–I’m having fun getting to wear heels to my current job, but sometimes I just wanna bum it. haha

i think your style is great…maybe because that’s what i would wear! i’m actually thinking to “spring it up” a little this season with colors other than black, ha! and pants other than jeans…(but they are sooo comfy)…i’m turning 59 in may…so maybe a little make over is due…wish “what not to wear” would find me!

You look super cute though, and those are nice and casual outfits! I am 25 right now but work at a University, so I always wonder when will I get to a point that Ineed to dress differently than the current college trends. I mean of course I dress nice for work, but when I choose what I wear it’s usually stemmed towards the cureent trends! Love this though! and I am about to start following you. Shout out to Kelley Grant, that’s how I found your blog!
