Christmas sucks.
There. I said it.
This Christmas has been one of the worst I can remember. I haven’t had electricity since noon Christmas Day. BOO!!
It all started Christmas Eve. I went to my sister’s Sunday night and stayed with my sister and BIL and baby Paycen. I loved that!! She is too cute for words y’all!! And getting so big!!
So Sunday I stayed with my sister and Monday we got up and went to Christmas at my Dad’s. That went really good until he decided Sophie was not allowed in the house because she peed on the rug last time she was there. The last time she was there she was 6 months old y’all. We were still potty training.
So that sucked because she could see inside and whined the whole time we were there! I couldn’t wait to get out of there!
After we left, I decided to just drive home that night because I was so mad at my Dad for being rude to my baby.
In order to get to my house from my sisters you have to take back roads to the interstate for about an hour. It had just turned dark when I left so what do you think happened as I was driving in my funk? I hit a freaking deer.
Yep. You heard that right. I killed Bambi’s mom. Or dad. I’m not sure which.
No lights came on and my car seemed fine so I kept driving. I drove until I got to WalMart and stopped to assess the damage. Thank goodness I didn’t hurt my car too bad!! I only messed up the grill and put a small dent in the hood. No lights, fenders, body, or engine damage. WHEW!
I finally got home and just went to bed.
I woke up Christmas in a MAJOR FUNK. I was in the bad mood to end all bad moods. I needed to grocery shop but everything was closed because of Christmas and plus I didn’t really want to leave my house. My plan for the day was to watch all of The Lord of the Rings movies and stuff my face with popcorn.
I think sometimes God sees our plans and laughs in our face. After all this life is a gift and only he knows the real plan.
Back to Christmas Day….I started the morning watching the first LOTR movie and my head was pounding so I decided to take a nap. I woke up at 11am and started the movie over because I slept through it all. At noon my electricity went off. It had been raining/sleeting all morning so I sort of expected this.
It came on and off a couple times throughout the day and I thought whatever, it will be back on before bed time.
WRONG!
I woke up the next morning expecting to go to work and found myself still with no electricity, freezing, and seeing the 12 inches of snow on the ground!
WTF?!
I called in to work….at this point I didn’t know how to get my garage open manually…and stayed in bed until the sun came up. Apparently Arkansas had the worst blizzard EVER and I am stuck in it.
It is now 9pm and I have been without electricity since noon yesterday. Funny thing is that now I’m out of my funk and even sort of laughing about it all.
Thankfully my friend Elizabeth got power back this afternoon so Sophie and I are crashing at her place until our electricity comes back on. I’m told this could take up to SEVEN days.
Please pray for us. I do think I might go nuts if I can’t go home for SEVEN days.
This is officially the Worst. Christmas. Ever.

Your dad was really unfair about Sophie! I would have left that minute if I could.
I hope you get your power back soon. I prayed for you.

Christmas 2013 will be better!
Poor Sophie. I’m lucky my parents accept my critters and treat them like their grandkids!

Praying for you guys! I’m in West Texas at the moment, but I heard about the crazy snow storm, and I hope it’s all gone by the time we drive back Sunday. Be safe and just stock up on the drinks! They’re supposed to keep you warm, right? ;)

Aww, I’m so sorry that your Christmas wasn’t a great one! Especially the power outage and your furbaby not being allowed inside. :( I always feel bad bringing Tucker to other people’s houses because he can be a bit rambunctious, but if she’s well behaved then there’s no reason for that! At least there wasn’t too much damage to your car from the deer…this will be a Christmas you’ll always remember! (Not for good reasons though…) Sending prayers and good thoughts your way that things start to look up soon.
