Here we go again with those 30 Questions again. This a tough one, so please bear with me.

Question 3: Describe your relationship with your parents…

This is sort of a tough one for me. I mentioned my Dad and Step Mom a lot and in my post about Question 2 and I also I mentioned that both of my parents died young. Both are true. Here is my story…

My Mom and Dad got married in 1981. They tried to have a baby for two years and in 1983 I was born. I was an only child until my little brother was born when I was five almost six. A year later my Dad died after a car accident where he broke his leg. My brother never really knew our Dad.

Two years later my Mom met, fell in love, and married my Step Dad. I was 8 and this is the man I call Dad. When they got married I gained an older step-brother, older step-sister, and younger step-sister. When I was a freshman in high school my Mom was diagnosed with colon cancer. The summer after I graduated high school she passed away.

My Dad got married a couple years later and divorced not long after.

My Dad got married again, to Charlotte, and they have been married ever since! Charlotte is the BEST step-mom a person could ask for!! She seriously goes above and beyond and I am proud to have her in the fam!!

So there it is…the story I don’t like to talk about much. I’m not sure why, I guess I don’t like people feeling sorry for me. I never wanted to be the girl who lost both of her parents. So I just didn’t talk about it. Ever.

It feels good to talk about now though. I have a great relationship with my family. Granted its not the perfect Christmas Card family but its mine.

I realize I have taken the question “describe your relationship with your parents” and twisted it a little but this is my blog and I can do what I want.

This is touching. You’re very lucky to have your dad and I’m glad he’s there for you :)

You’re a strong woman. I constantly think about when my parents do pass how I would ever get through that. I’m super close to both my mom and dad & only live around the corner from them. I’m so glad your stepdad has always been there for you.
